Something Unmistakable
A/N: Just a one-shot dedicated to the cute coupling of….TA DA! Yoh and Manta! I think if Yoh had his choice he would be a pimp….00; don't you think so?
Disclaimer: Stevie: "I…don't…own…Shaman….King…or…reggae….music…." Has anyone seen Malcolm in the Middle? That show is twisted, however, Stevie just did my disclaimer, so I'll keep watching…Does anyone miss how Nickelodeon used to be? You know, with Rocko and Angry Beavers? I love Angry Beavers! "NERF!"
I could hear the beat of the music from behind the hedges of my home, hanging out the Victorian window aimlessly.
I knew that music anywhere. It was my Yoh-kun.
Looking around suspiciously to see if Father was home, I realized he wasn't, and rejoiced while I walked out the door.
From as far away as I was, I could see his glossy black hair bounce up and down as he walked. He always had a spring in his step, always happy, always so laid-back. Sometimes it actually led me to believe he was cold, ignoring me the way he does.
But that is how my Yoh-kun has always been: different. And because he is different, he is treated differently, it's logic. He's always in his own little world, dreaming, staring at the stars….he's spent years doing that.
But even after knowing him, even in highschool now, I still don't understand why.
He doesn't need to spend any more time training, but every night he takes me out to see the stars with him. I sit there with him in ecstasy, dumbly, and waiting to her his words.
I don't know why I like it. I don't like it, but I don't hate it. But what my Yoh-kun loves I will love, because I love him.
He turned to the street corner, heading toward the river and humming along with the music. The way he sung enchanted me, and I moved moronically along, making sure he didn't see me.
I hear what they say at school.
"He's smitten with him."
"He's infatuated with him."
"No, no. He's obsessed with him."
But none of those are true.
I'm in love with him.
I once heard my father say that God's love is divine. But human love is divine also, and I know this because…
Once you meet someone, you recognize them. You fall in love with them…you know them inside and out, and you never question them.
I watched Yoh-kun as he rested his tanned elbows upon the metal railing by the river. He was watching the water move as it caught the sunset.
Once you fall in love with someone, you know the something special you will always remember.
As the gold flickered across the mirror of water, Yoh smiled at me, knowing I had followed him. I ran away, embarrassed, and flustered.
But then I realized what it was as I ran, hearing the reggae music blare from his headphones.
Something unmistakable.
