Author's Introduction: Okay, I am experiencing major writer's block on my other stories, and my CSI season four marathon has put me in a GSR funk. Here you go, complete fluff, angst (I am not capable of writing a story without it), SongFic and one-shot (yes, this introduction will be longer than the story). It's like 3 AM right now, so if it sucks blame the clock and my impending insomnia. Enjoy!
Rating:
To be on the safe side, PG-13 for mild implied sexual content.
Spoilers:
Mild - last
episode of season four, "Bloodlines".
Disclaimer:
Don't own CSI
or Norah Jones's "Come Away with Me".
REVIEW!!!
His hands are firmly on the wheel but his mind is somewhere else. It is late and the sky is black. Recent rain pours down outside and impales the car. The Brunette sitting next to him is leaning her head against the glass window and he can only wonder what she is thinking.
Come away with me in the night,
Come away with me and I will write you a song.
Her mind is reeling with the events of the night. Had she really been pulled over? Asked to blow into the breathalyzer? And most of all, was the beautiful man she had fantasized about so many times really sitting next to her? Yes, yes, and dear God, yes.
Come away with me on a bus,
Come away where they can't tempt us with their lies.
He opens his mouth to say something, but words don't come out. He notes her every move, looking for any sign she will break the silence that has ensued. Still, no words come from either of them, and the only noise is the sound of the hard rain hitting the steel of the SUV. He wants to tell her how he feels – how he so badly wants her as his own; how he loves her.
And I want to walk with you on a cloudy day,
In fields where the yellow grass grows knee high.
So won't you try to come.
She shifts ever so slightly in her seat, her thoughts dead-focused on the situation at hand. Here. Now. Could she really hide her feelings any longer? She had tried for so long, and she wonders if perhaps it's simply time to give in – leap and see what happens.
Come away with me and we'll kiss on a mountain top,
Come away with me and I'll never stop loving you.
He pulls into the parking lot in front of her apartment complex, extracts the key from the ignition, glances at her. He hesitates for a moment, not sure of his next move. But he can't do it any longer – he can't hide it. He reaches out his hand, she requites his offer, and it is almost as if they are in perfect harmony with one another. They walk to the door, and regardless of the events of the day, all either one of them can do is smile.
And I want to wake up with the rain falling on a tin roof,
While I'm safe there in your arms.
So all I ask is for you to come away with me in the night.
Come away with me.
