TV Makes the World Go Around 2
Greg shrugged his coat off and hung it on the coat rack right next to Mycroft's umbrella. He kicked off his shoes and shoved them into the corner out of the walkway. He walked in his socks to his bedroom where he changed out of his work clothes and into jeans and a V-neck. He padded back down the hall to the kitchen and grabbed a cold beer from the fridge. He popped open the bottle and settled down onto the couch, taking his spot next Mycroft who was reading the paper silently.
The politician looked up from the paper and smiled, "Welcome home Gregory."
Greg draped his arm over Mycroft's shoulders, "Thanks, good to be home, Mondays are always terrible."
Mycroft chuckled, "Ah, isn't that the whole truth." The younger man agreed.
Greg's position of Detective Inspector at Scotland Yard may not be as difficult as Mycroft's 'minor' position in the Government, but still it was challenging at times. When Greg wasn't busy doing loads of annoying paper work he had to suffer through the abuse of Mycroft's sociopathic brother at the crime scenes. At the end of the day though, as long as the criminals were taken off the streets I was all worth it to Greg.
Gregory reached over and dug the television remote out of the couch, slipping on BBC1. A familiar voice announced the beginning of a long marathon of Doctor Who reruns leading up to the premier of some new special. Greg smiled, when he was younger if he wasn't outside playing football with the other kids he was either playing his guitar or watching Doctor Who.
Mycroft looked up from his paper and rolled his eyes, "Again Gregory? Surely you have something better to do than watch reruns of a show I can guarantee you have seen every episode to multiple times." His voice expressing his level of annoyed.
Greg frowned, "There's nothing wrong with that." He pouted.
"I never said there was," Mycroft corrected, "But still, can't you read a book or something?"
Greg shook his head, "After a long day of doing nothing but paperwork you want me to read a book?"
Mycroft nodded, lifting his paper again, "Exactly, reading is good for you were as tele isn't."
"Television makes the world go around Mycroft." Greg confirmed content with the episode they had begun to play. Series 2 episode 2, New Earth. David Tennant was definitely his favorite of the New Who Doctors and Rose was a brilliant companion.
"No, it doesn't. The tilt on earth's axis and…" Mycroft began only to have Greg cut him off.
"Television makes the world go around." He repeated himself turning the volume up slightly.
Mycroft sighed heavily, realizing this was a battle he wasn't going to win, "Whatever you say dear."
Gregory smiled and squeezed Mycroft's shoulder, and that night they fell asleep to the sound of the TARDIS' familiar Vworping noise, comfortably wrapped in each other's arms.
