It was late on a December day in Cardiff. There was a cold foggy mist drifting in from the bay, and most sensible people were home, drinking hot chocolate and watching the telly.
Dr Owen Harper was watching CCTV. "Jack!' he yelled "something for you to see!"
"What? I'm busy!" Jack was currently involved doing something in his office. It seemed to involve Ianto, and to Owens very experienced ear sounded like a low-voiced mutual seduction.
Bollocks "Jack we are surrounded by special ops!" Owen yelled watching as fully armed troopers in black plain uniform started moving through the plaza, taking up positions that covered every possible approach and exit to Torchwoods "secret" base.
A sudden startled silence, followed by two people moving very quickly towards the same computer and colliding, made Owen smirk.
"Where are Gwen and Toshiko? "
" Out on a shopping date to London sir" Ianto said
"London? Why?"
"They are shopping for the Wedding sir"
"Oh that was today? "
"Yes Sir, Tosh, Gwen and Mary."
"Mary? Who's Mary?"
"Gwen's mum sir "
"Her moms name is Mary?"
"Yes Sir."
"OK, call Gwen and tell her to take another day, they'll fine".
Owen listened to the two other men nattering, but then something else caught his attention.
A tall figure dressed in high boots, tight jeans and a long coat topped off by what looked like a cowboy hat strode into view. she was a tall, statuesque woman with hair so black it had blue highlights, skin as pale as Jacks and even more flawless,and eyes as blue as the Adriatic sky.
Owen was mesmerized. He had never seen anyone so beautiful in his life.
"Jack, are you getting this?" Ianto said
"Fuck!" Jack said, his fist slammed down on his desk "why now? Why here?"
You know her "? Owen asked
"Yes I do and so do you. Just think of her in a red white and blue Swim suit with high-heeled boots and an invisible plane. "
Owen nearly swallowed his tongue "Wonder Woman?"
What the hell is she doing in Cardiff"? Jack grabbed his coat and headed for the door "once I am out lock everything! Don't let anyone in! Don't go out."
Jack ran out the door and Ianto Locked the hub down, every door, right after Jack passed through them. Jack clipped his Bluetooth on as he ran. "Okay guys listen in and record, but do not interfere! Is that clear?"
The two men left in the HUB exchanged alarmed glances and chorused "Yes sir"
Jack carefully slipped out the door of the Tourist shop and closed and locked it behind him. He listened as the auxiliary locks slid into place. Satisfied that his home and team was as secure as possible, he carefully raised his hands to shoulder height and walked slowly towards the woman. She watched him move forward and smiled.
Jack stopped, lowered his hands and (here Owen and Ianto gasped in surprise), bowed, hands carefully folded across his chest in a formal and very courtly way.
Then he shocked his listeners even more by saying "Greetings Grandmother, to what do I owe this very unexpected visit?"
"Jack I have told you to call me Diana "she said "there is a problem, and it would be best to discuss it elsewhere. I want you to come with me to Amazonia." Jack looked startled "but gra.. Diana I am forbidden to set foot on the "
Diana interrupted him "a special place has been prepared. My friends will protect your base and your friends, but you need to come with me now" She held out her hand, Jack took it. They vanished in a sparkle of golden light.
