I just am full of inspiration so here is my first OFFICIAL one-shot (yes, that means I will continue "Can I Interest You in Today's Headlines?")
"Ace this is it! Santa Fe at last! Take a deep breath. Oh, no one would ever want to breathe in smoky, polluted New York air afta gettin a whiff of this!"
Katherine obliges by taking a deep breath, but her eyes don't reflect the same wonder and joy as Jack's.
"Wow Jack it's really…something."
Jack is too caught up in his own revelry to notice Katherine's lack of enthusiasm.
"Ain't it? Jes look at dat sky clear and blue, and dose mountains. Man a thousand paintings couldn't do dem justice!"
She loves hearing the joy and pure pleasure ringing through his voice. In sweet satisfaction she links her arm to his and lean her head on his shoulder.
"Mmm, it sure is."
He grins, happy to know that she is sharing his joy, but when he sees her head resting peacefully against his arm, eyes closed, he can't help being confused.
"Ace, you ain't even lookin around, yer missin out on our first sight of Santa Fe."
She opens her eyes and sighs in perfect satisfaction.
"Oh, Jack I'm happy that you finally get to live your dream, but I've been living in Santa Fe since the day we said 'I do'. And nothing not even Santa Fe, could ever beat the sight of you waiting for at the end of the aisle."
He smiles and wraps her arms around her.
"You know that dat sky wouldn't be so blue and beautiful if you weren't here with me Katherine."
She rolls her eyes at him and pecks him on the lips.
"Jack Kelly, you are still the most shameless flatterer in the world."
He shrugs and returns the peck for a longer kiss.
"Maybe so, but Ise am just sayin the truth."
She pulls away for an instant to study his face, she expects to see his characteristic smirk, but he is surprisingly serious.
"So what is the the truth? No improvements Kelly."
He looks her dead in the eye with a look that melts her heart.
"Santa Fe's got nuthin on you Ace."
