"Bittersweet symphony"
It was sunset. It was here, on this cliff in the middle of the prairie were I was supposed to end her life. How bitter life is.
She was there, as expected. I couldn't see her face-she turned to watch twilight, her long white gown flowing on the wind.
White for innocence, I thought
"Zero", she said in that melodic voice I loved so dearly. "So you came after all."
She looked straight into my face.
She changed after all these years-she grown from lovely girl to beautiful women. But no, beautiful didn't even begin to describe her beauty- her calm, perfect face, long hair reflecting sunlight and curvaceous, slim figure. Only her eyes stayed the same-hazel eyes like liquid chocolate with tints of cherry red in them.
"You have broken your promise", I said fully aware that it was mistake.
"Yes, you are right Zero. I would love to talk with you before you kill me, but I know it's pointless."
I turned my to look anywhere, but not at her.
"Don't say my name, vampire", I said sharply, already hating myself for saying it.
"I thought...", she paused unsure " Well it doesn't matter anymore" she said sadly. Single tear fell down her cheek, shining in all colors of the rainbow like small diamond.
"Kill me, Zero", she said while walking towards me. I took step back when I felt her sweet scent-scent of her blood. Only her blood was able to make me go mad, to turn me into monster inside me. I pointed my loyal Bloody Rose at her head.
"Silly", she said clearly amused "Don't you know that the best way to kill vampire, is by hitting heart? Oh, I forgot", she paused as if remembering something "I lost my heart long time ago"
What?
"It's here", she said placing her hand on my chest.
Realisation hit me with full force, like a train.
"I love you Zero. I couldn't force myself to escape any longer. Do you remember when you told me to kill you if you became level E?" I numbly nodded. "I wanted you to be the one to kill me." She closed her eyes. "Just do it, Zero"
Different thoughts, different memories filled my mind. Smiling Yuuki, caring Yuuki, Yuuki fighting, her laugh, her voice, her friendship, her scent, her presence...
Yuuki. My only weakness. My only desire. My only love.
In that moment, I make a decision which changed me forever. I hated myself for this, but I would hate myself even more if I didn't choose it.
I embraced her, finally after all those years I feeling warm.
"Yuuki" I whispered like a prayer, watching her smile "I love you too"
How sweet life is, only if for one short moment...
