That Look..

The rain pouring down hard onto the city that never sleeps… No one it seemed in sight… A man was lying on the street, handing his hand over a gun wound in which he was bleeding out slowly but surely… You see that man is me, I bet your asking how I got there and what happened… Let's flash back to about a week ago where my story started to slowly fold out.

It was oddly a night just like this, I was lying in my bed after just coming back home from the army… You see I was a sniper; you didn't stand a chance of surviving once you were in our sight. Anyway back to the story, I was lying in my bed listening to my clock going tick in the night. I rolled side to side but I just couldn't sleep. I ran a hand through my dark hair and got out of bed, walking to the mirror slowly and looking at myself. I was slightly lean and built, somewhat tanned from the sun but I was indeed a white boy they would call me back then.

Bang! Was all I heard before I ran to grab my own gun and outside to see where the ringing sound of a gun shoot was still heard in the night. I looked around ready for action until I saw a young man standing over a body with a gun. I set myself up behind the door and when I noticed that the man hasn't seen me yet I shot once. My bullet striking true and hitting his shoulder… What? I didn't want to kill the guy just disarm him. With that he dropped his gun and ran off, I opened the door to my apt building and jumped over the shattered glass and to the body. Upon looking closely it was just a mere kid, about 16 or 17… I sat next to him and saw he was shot in the chest.

"…Am I going to die…?" He asked me as I put my hand on the wound and applied pressure to the wound. People started gathering now and I could see a few on their phones I guess was the police. My harden glaze turned back to the kid and I went a pain in my chest as I held him close now. "… I'm all alone.." He muttered and this bought my mind back to the war and how they always thought they were alone in death.

"No you're not alone… Just remember in death someone loves you… Just hang on kid for me.. For your family.. Because we all love you for just being you…" I saw a drop of water on his forehead then other before it slowly started to pour and the kid looked at me with his eyes.. They were filled with something I have seen many times again… The look of death…
