"Please, Dad. Just a few more days," begged Dean, placing himself between his brother and father, but being careful to stay out of striking distance. "Sammy's worked real hard on his project-"
"Really hard," interjected Sam.
Dean rolled his eyes, but continued. "-and he's got a good chance of winning."
John scowled down at his sons. "Is it more important than saving lives?" he growled, crossing his arms.
Both boys slumped.
"There's your answer then," said John, with a tight smile. "Besides, you don't need science to be a hunter."
"It's a Walkman that detects EMF," added Dean, his heart pounding at his own daring.
John blinked. "That's... a great idea, Sam." He sighed. "Okay, two more days."
Sam pulled his brother aside. "But my project's a working model of a volcano," he hissed.
"Don't worry, squirt. You're not the only one with an entry," said Dean with a wink.
