Prompt: Sharon/Andy; "It's a date..."
Sharon didn't think this was how it would happen. As she waited outside the door of the theatre - because she had left to go to the restroom quickly - she couldn't help but wonder how this happened. How had she ended up standing outside the door to a theatre, dressed up, a nervous fluttering in her belly? What had finally made her say those three words?
"It's a date," she had agreed. When Sharon had said it, repeating the words that had been said to her, she wasn't sure if she truly meant it. It wasn't until she was home that night, staring into her glass of wine, that she realized: yes, it was a date. She hadn't mentioned Jack, or said they were co-workers, or any of the other things she had used as an excuse lately. There were an infinite amount of reasons, really, why she should have said no. But Sharon had smiled, nodded her head, and agreed.
Sharon pulled out her compact from her bag and did a quick check of her hair and makeup, once again feeling as flustered as she did earlier in the night. Earlier, Rusty had joked about how Sharon kept walking back and forth from the bedroom to the bathroom to the living room, forgetting things. Sharon hadn't known why she was so nervous, and she still didn't as she waited. This wasn't their first date. Except it was their first date. This was the first time she was allowing him to pick her up. This was the first time she didn't feel a little guilty for letting his hand linger at the small of her back as they walked. Sharon also knew, that if he tried, tonight would be the first time she allowed his lips to press to something other than her cheek.
Sharon smiled, stepping out of the way as people walked past her and went inside. There was an announcement that the play was going to be starting in five more minutes. Sharon looked around, over heads of people making their way inside, past families, friends, and couples all coming to enjoy their night. There was only one man her eyes wanted to land on. There was only one person Sharon was there for.
"Looking for something, or maybe someone?" she heard someone say close to her ear, the voice alone making her heart speed up instantly.
Sharon whirled around, her smile only growing when she saw Andy Flynn, boyish grin in place. "Not anymore," she said.
Andy's grin turned into a smile that was full of so much, just as his eyes were. Andy had a way of looking at her like he saw something new each time, something more captivating with each glance. Sharon still wasn't used to it, but she liked it.
"So you've found what you were looking for?" Andy asked as he waved his hand towards the door, gesturing for her to go inside.
Sharon walked in, feeling the warmth of his hand through her dress as they entered. She smiled and looked over her shoulder. "Yes. I think I've got everything I need right now," she said, nodding her head for Andy to lead the way to their seats. The eager look he gave her made her thankful that she had agreed to go out with him.
Th End. Thanks for reading.
