Poem: Love at First Sight

I think this poem is a bit ironic for me because sometimes I don't beleive in love at first sight. It is still a very sweet poem. :

Love First Sight

Do you believe in love at first sight?

Of course I do!

All the evidence is clearly there,

In their 20th wedding anniversary,

In the look in the woman's eyes as he goes down on one knee,

In the second look I take when I see him.

The promise, the devotion, the commitment, the love,

That I see in his eyes.

Love at first sight I declare!

But then, in my happiness,

I doubt the evidence,

I see a separation after 20 years of love,

I see the woman cry and deny him of his love for her,

Is my second look only out of desperation?

Only out of a desire to be loved?

Is his gaze- only a desire?

Of course not, I tell myself,

He loves me and always will because its love at first sight.

Although, no one really sees what I see,

As I watch this boy become a man,

They see a forever boy- a rebel to be despised,

But I see a father, a husband and so much more.

Why do they try to tell me- love at first sight it is not?

When they're the ones that made me believe in it.

Try to make me deny my love as you wish,

But my love is at first sight!
