Solfege's Prayer
By WickedSong
Disclaimer: I do not own Eternal Sonata or the song 'A Mother's Prayer' originally sung by Celine Dion in the film 'Quest for Camelot'
I pray you'll be my eyes
And watch her where she goes
And help her to be wise
Help me to let go
Every mother's prayer
Every child knows
Lead her to a place
Guide her with your grace
To a place where she'll be safe
Solfege was always worried about her daughter. It didn't matter if Mr Chopin had told her a million times that she would be safe with him. The worry would never go away. All she could imagine would be the illness taking the toll on her fourteen year old. She could see her dropping to the ground. She could feel the pain of Polka as the illness took away her life, bit by bit. She had always told her daughter of her fate. It hadn't fazed the young girl though. She took these kind of things. She shouldered them, instead of challenging them. Something that Solfege herself couldn't do.
When Polka had first told her she was going on a journey to Forte Solfege thought her daughter was kidding. She wasn't though. She left and Frederic told Solfege that he would not let any harm come to Polka while they were away. How could he guarantee though? How could he protect her from something that was killing her inside?
Later when Polka came back and came to see Solfege, she had hoped it was the end of her adventure. When she met that young boy, Allegretto, though she knew it wasn't. It was only the beginning of an even bigger adventure. Allegretto had asked about the illness. Solfege had to admire his spirit as he wanted to save her daughter from her fate. But no one could. Polka was doomed to this existence where she had to light the world with her astra. No one could change that.
She knew she had to be with her every step of the way so she prayed her prayer that Polka would be safe. That she would have the strength to carry out what she had to do. That she would be watched over and have faith to go where she needed to. Her prayer worked. When Polka told her all about her friends, she knew the prayer had worked. Her daughter was safe.
Every mother's prayer
Every child knows
Need to find a place
Guide her to a place
Give her faith so she'll be safe
Lead her to a place
Guide her with your grace
To a place where she'll be safe
I've had this idea for a little while now but not the confidence to pull it off. I decided though that what's the point of having ideas and not using them?
I know it's short but most of my oneshots these days are. You were warned in the summary of the length though.
Read and review please.
