Author's Note: Ever since Olicity happened, I can't get over them and I love them to bits! This will be 3 chapters only although I'd like to stretch it further if possible. It is set before Oliver and Thea went to the island for training. Reviews and constructive criticism are welcomed! Do leave some! Thank you!
Felicity checked her clock again and cursed, it was only two o'clock in the morning. She has been having sleepless nights for the past few days; it was probably because of the secret that she's beena while now. She went to her kitchen and made a cup of hot chocolate, it always made her relax and she hoped that it would help her sleep. As she waited for her milk to finish warming up in the microwave, a crash in her living room startled her and she began to panic. She carefully took out a knifefrom the drawer and tiptoed her way to her living room.
"Damn it, Oliver! Couldn't you just have rung the doorbell or knock?" She rolled her eyes as she proceeded back to her kitchen, happy that she finally heard the microwave beep.
"Sorry! Well, I can't really ring the doorbell with me wearing this," he gestured to his Arrow outfit, "what would your neighbors think?
"My neighbors are asleep, Oliver, they won't know," she smiled secretly; she loved it when Oliver would just drop by unannounced, especially in his Arrow costume. It was a sweet surprise and it made her feel safe. She started heating up another cup of milk for Oliver's hot chocolate, she knew he loved it and she was more than happy to make him one, "you want whip cream on it?"
"Always," he said with a smile as he sat down on the kitchen stool, "why are you up? It's late."
"Why are you here at this hour? Starling City ran out of bad guys?"
"You of all people should know Felicity that bad guys don't run out, they're just out there lurking," he looked out the window remembering the men that have tried to hurt Felicity, he promised that he would always keep her safe, "I wanted to check on you, you looked sick this morning, flu or something?"
Felicity thought for a moment, wondering if she could tell him the truth, the burden was starting to take its toll on her and it would be nice to have someone to confide in. Diggle knew but he was busy with his family life and letting Oliver know would really help, he was her confidante. She remembered that kiss he gave her at the hospital and couldn't help but touch her lips feeling as if it was just a few hours ago but that wasn't the case, that memory, that event, was long ago. She pushed back the memory and started up coming up with a lie to tell Oliver. It wasn't the time for him to know.
"Period cramps," she deadpanned.
"Oh," Oliver was a bit uncomfortable and Felicity couldn't help but smile at this, "don't you have meds for those?" he took a sip of his hot chocolate and a bit of whip cream ended up on his nose.
"Here," she said as she wiped Oliver's nose with a tissue, he grabbed her hand and they stared at each other's eyes for a moment, their hands still holding each other. Felicity wanted to kiss him, to tell him everything that has been going on with her and just have him wrap his arms around her to comfort her, she missed those times, "sorry, here you go," she handed him the tissue and let him wipe his nose himself.
"I have to go," Oliver said reluctantly, she looked at him for a moment and realized that there in his eyes was a mirror of her own, the longing was there and she almost touched his face but he turned away, "I'll see you later."
I still love you, Oliver, and I need you now more than ever.
"See you," it was all she managed to say.
As Felicity entered her office, Ray was already there sitting at her seat looking at her computer. She glared at her for the invasion of privacy but he just peered over the screen and she could see from the way the corner of her eyes crinkled that he was smiling.
"Ray, what are you doing with my computer?"
"Well, technically, this," pointing to the screen, "is mine because you work for me."
"Maybe I should just quit," she was thinking about it but she hoped Ray took it as a joke.
"Is something wrong?" Worry was written all over his face.
"Nothing," she sighed, "girl problems, you wouldn't understand."
"I happen to be very good at listening to the woes of women," he stood up from the chair to let Felicity sit and he leaned on her table instead, "come on, let me hear it."
"You want to help me out with my period cramps? How exactly can you do that?"
"Okaaay," he quickly stood up and headed for the door, "that area is not my expertise so I'm just going to go. I'll send someone up to give you chocolates, might help with what you're feeling, bye!"
She laughed at Ray's awkwardness. Despite the fact that he was sometimes arrogant, she like him but not in the same way as she did Oliver. Again, she thought about the idea of letting Ray Palmer, her boss and probably more, she wasn't sure yet, in on her secret but could she really trust him? After all, he was kind of Oliver's rival and if there comes a point where she had to choose between the two, she would choose Oliver in a heartbeat. She busied herself with work with her phone close by waiting for a call she wished she wouldn't have to take.
The sun was shining as Felicity walked around to find a place to eat, she was hungry and Ray's chocolates didn't help her much. However, she felt energized as the warmth of the sun washed over her. It has been awhile since she basked in the warmth and this definitely made her feel at ease and her worries temporarily went away. She stopped at a new café where everything was dainty and decided that this was the place. As she waited for her order, she was once again surprised by Oliver, he sat in front of her and smiled that sweet smile she always loved.
"Hmmm, Oliver Queen has visited me twice in less than twelve hours, what could this possibly mean?" She raised an eyebrow at Oliver.
"I was hungry and I wanted to get some food."
""This place is a little too girly for you, don't you think?" She looked at the waitress offering Oliver a menu and she couldn't help but feel annoyed as she flirted with him, "I recommend the alfredo pasta, it's to die for," she said it as if she's been at the café before, it was a ploy to get the waitress to go away.
"Alfredo pasta then," he gave the menu back to the waitress and returned her focus to Felicity, he couldn't help but admire her, she looked so beautiful, "you look great."
"Oliver, come on, spill it, what do you want?" she tucked a stray blonde hair behind her right ear.
"Can you talk to Thea, please?"
"Sure, about what?" She saw how uneasy Oliver was so she gently placed her hand on top of his and Oliver laced his fingers with hers, "it's okay, whatever it is, I'll help."
"Thank you," he smiled, she always knew how to make him feel at ease, "she wants to be part of the fight and I can't help but…"
"Worry that she might get herself killed?"
Oliver nodded and looked defeated, Thea was stubborn. He knew that Felicity would be the one who could reach out to his sister. Looking back, Felicity was there to save their asses and even though she wasn't in the battlefield she surely did a good job at keeping them alive. For that, Oliver was truly grateful. He was hoping she could convince Thea to stays away from the fight.
"You wouldn't listen to me about you going to face Ra's," she bitterly told him remembering the aftermath of it all when they all thought Oliver was dead, "what makes you think Thea will listen to me? She's a bit more stubborn and hard headed than you."
"Please try?"
"I will," she squeezed his hand to assure him.
They enjoyed their food and talked about their plans for the day. Oliver was going to meet up with Roy to go look into any more information about the new bad guy in town, see if he could find a way to end it once and for all. With most of the criminals he put away loose in Starling City, he felt like each moment was a fight to keep the people he loves alive and a fight to stay alive. Felicity was going to head to Palmer Technologies and finish some research Ray asked her to do. She was then going to Verdant for her second job but she decided not to worry about such things yet, she would enjoy the moment she has now, with Oliver. It was a rare moment for them to be alone together out in the open. The last time they were together in public having a nice meal, it ended in a disaster that almost killed her. This was the opposite of it, she hoped. Their pleasant conversation was interrupted when her phone rang, she cursed under her breath. This was the call.
"Hello? Yes, this is she. Oh, hi," Oliver could feel something was off, Felicity smiled to cover her rising discomfort, "what is it?" She felt tears forming in her eyes and Oliver moved his chair next to her and wrapped his around her shoulder, "thank you so much" she said, both for Oliver and the person she was talking to on the phone. She wiped her tears away and smiled at Oliver, "I'm fine, it's just that, big news, caught me off guard."
"Are you sure you're okay?"
No.
"Yes, really. I promise."
She sat on her chair staring at the three screens before her waiting for an alarm to signal the location of Daniel Brickwell. Oliver and Roy suited up earlier and were out to look for some answers. She couldn't get her mind off the recent news she just got. This was big and her life will definitely change because of it. For a second, she entertained the idea of a different life and imagined she wasn't part of Team Arrow, she would probably be safe, her future wouldn't be so uncertain and her life wouldn't be at risk 24/7. However, she wouldn't have met Oliver and that was the kind of life she didn't want to have.
"Felicity," Diggle chimed as he went down the steps heading straight for her with arms wide open, "what was the news? Everything okay? Whatever it is, we will get through it and we will find a way, we're here for you."
The flood gates opened and Felicity cried heavily as Diggle hugged her tight. She took a moment to wallow in her emotions feelings safe in Diggle's embrace, he was like an older brother to her and right now, she needed one of those. It took a while for her to compose herself and when she finally did, she stepped back, sat on her chair and faced Diggle.
"You don't have to tell me if you don't want to. I know it's a big deal and honestly, keeping your secret has been putting me on edge lately. I almost punched Roy when he kept asking me about what was going on. I swear, that kid knows something is up."
"Diggle, what I tell you now does not leave this room, okay?"
"Felicity, if we keep keeping these secrets, emyour/em secrets, between us, it's going to blow up in our faces."
"I know. I know. Give me time to pull myself together enough so that I have the strength to tell them."
"The thing is, we don't have the luxury of time."
Felicity knew he was right, one way or the other, the truth would come out and it was better they, more importantly, Oliver, heard it from her. She owed him that.
"So, what was the result? Positive? Negative?" Diggle was anxious and he was bad at trying to hide it, Felicity smiled.
"It's positive. I'm pregnant," she felt uneasy saying it out in the open because truthfully, she couldn't believe it herself. But it was the truth and she felt a little lighter when she told Diggle.
"Oh my god, Felicity! That is wonderful!" Diggle once again gave Felicity a hug, something about having a daughter made him happy for Felicity, "wait, who is the father?"
Felicity hesitated for a bit, not knowing how he would react if she revealed who the father was to him. She inhaled deeply, preparing herself for what she was about to tell Diggle.
"Oliver."
