Hello everyone it is The Knight of Fish here, with a RWBY fan fiction to share with you! Exciting isn't it? Well I hope you guys enjoy reading this maybe one shot of a fan fiction I have created (well it may be longer if people want it to be I do have ideas on how to continue it.) Otherwise you can PM about this story or if you want to leave a review though both are not a major concern of mine all I want is for you to have a good time reading this story if that happens I am a very happy person indeed. With that I am off, until the next time we meet on the battlefield!
The night air was cool to the touch as Jaune walked out of the ballroom dance, well if you could consider it a ballroom dance at all with the heavy beat dance music Yang had decided would be playing most of the time. The constant bass of the music had given Jaune a headache along with the fact that he had just set up his main love interest Weiss with, his competition for her heart, Neptune.
Well tonight could have been worse I could have had to have worn a dress to the dance, Jaune thought to himself and chuckled a little as he tried to cheer himself up, even though it was not working very well at all.
He walked through the courtyard that connected every building in Beacon Academy to one another. Letting the silence of the night take away his depressing thoughts of what happened tonight. He had one place set in mind as to where he wanted to go and calm down. It was a small garden filled with flowers of different colors, in a clearing, that was hidden a little ways in the forest that surrounded Beacon. A garden that he had found a few months earlier and had sense then on his free time been going to and taking care of. It was also a place that he felt he find some type of peace with this annoying night, and maybe forget about Weiss for awhile, plus it being in the middle of nowhere it would show a great few of the stars, and watching the stars had always been a way he could relax after a bad day ever since he was a child.
As Jaune continued to walk through the courtyard towards the edge of the forest he saw a girl he couldn't mistake for anyone else sitting on a bench rubbing her feet, she wore a dress that was simple in design with most of it being deep red, but it seemed fitting for her considering it complemented her dark red hair very well. Well maybe I should just leave her be I mean it's not like I have any words that would cheer her up if she is sitting there depressed by the dance for some reason, he thought to himself even as his feet moved on their own and had him walk up to her.
"Hey there Ruby what you doing out here by yourself?" Jaune asked before he could knew what he was doing.
Ruby let out a little yelp of surprise as Jaune snuck up on her without her knowing it, and looked up at him and relaxed as she realized who it was and then replied to him. "Oh you know it was just way too loud for me to think, and I am not much for dancing or wearing these shoes so I thought I would go get some fresh air and let my feet rest."
"Ah yeah me too, the music and all the people got way too much for me and I decided to take a walk in this cool weather to regain my composure…" Jaune's voice trailed off as he thought of the other reason he had to get out of that dance.
Ruby must have noticed his feeling of regret and loss because a look of concern for her friend came onto her face. Ah great now she will ask if I want to sit down and talk to her about what is wrong, Jaune sighed internally knowing that he did not want to talk about what had happened between him Neptune, and Weiss just yet. Especially to the leader of the team Weiss was on. It would be pretty horrible if Ruby told Weiss that Neptune had only gone to talk to her because of Jaune. Though he highly doubt Ruby would tell anyone if he told her not to, but there was still a chance it could slip out sometime and he did not want to risk it.
"So Jaune I can tell there is another reason you left the dance, and if you want to sit down and talk about it right now I am all ears, I mean that is what friends are for after all." Ruby told him as she patted next to her on the bench.
Before he knew what he was doing himself he had sat down where Ruby had patted and began telling her what had happened during the dance between him, Neptune, and Weiss. Ruby sat through the whole story in silence not butting in once.
"That is the major reason I left the dance tonight," Jaune finished, "it is because I can't take seeing them together looking so happy together, I feel jealous because that could have been me. But I also feel regret because I should not be jealous considering I am the one who got Neptune to talk to Weiss in the first place tonight." He stopped and sighed before continuing his rant. "I guess in the end I could not stay in the same place as them because I felt conflicted not knowing if I did the right thing, I mean should I have gone in Neptune's place and tried to cheer her up? Or did I do the right thing by sending Neptune to cheer her up and probably losing my chance with her forever."
Ruby sat there in silence for a few pondering on how best to help her best guy friend in his time of need. It was hard for her to find the words considering she could not really say she had felt that way before, but she had to come up with something. She could not just let Jaune sit there and destroy himself over this.
Jaune on the other hand was crushed under a wave of self pity and loathing, oh you fool you have done it now you just had to open your big mouth and let everything pour out didn't you? Now Ruby will only be my friend out of pity and never see me as a true huntsman ever.
Then Ruby shook him from his dark thoughts as she finally decide upon what to say to Jaune. "Jaune I don't think you should let this thing that happened between the three of you keep you from having fun tonight. I mean you have a bright future ahead of you as a huntsman, and you have a good team backing you up.I think you owe it to them as their leader to go have fun at this dance with them, just treat it as a team building exercise." Ruby finally said to Jaune trying to cheer him up.
Ruby's words about his team had, Jaune brated himself in his head, how could you forget about your team like that especially Pyrrha?! Dang it they all must be worried about you right now not being there like you said you would be. But how could he go back in there knowing that Neptune and Weiss would be there flirting with each other? He hardened his resolve and got up, it did not matter at all I am just gonna have to suck it up and go have a duty go back and have fun with the rest of my team.
Jaune then bowed to Ruby in apology for taking up her time and in thanks for the advice she had given him at her and said. "Thank Ruby you really know how to make me feel better when I am down on myself."
"There is no need to...uh...thank me at all...I mean I was just looking out for a fellow team leader, and a really close friend." Ruby stammered back as she looked away from him try to hide her blush that had spread upon her face because of his kind words towards her.
"Well I am glad I have a friend who is there to look out for me then," Jaune stated, as he got out of his bow and turned towards where the dance was still going on but just as soon as he was going to start his walk back to the dance a thought ran through his head. Shouldn't he bring back Ruby so she could have fun with her teams tonight also? He then looked back to Ruby. "You should come back with me."
"But uh...wouldn't it look like we are going together if we both come back at the same time?" Ruby asked shyly.
Jaune had not really thought of that but he just shrugged it off. "I highly doubt anyone will think much of it knowing we are friend's. Plus you also take your own advice and go have fun with your team and not sit out here alone," Jaune said to her.
"You are probably right I doubt anyone will think of us as anything other than friends," Ruby replied got up and smiled at Jaune. With that being said Jaune and Ruby walked back to the party.
Ruby had a smile on her face as she walked and thoughts of how best to have fun at the dance her sister Yang, and her partner Weiss has set up together. Jaune also had a smile as he walked on his face his headache forgotten and his thoughts on how to best make up for his absence at the dance to his team right now and also on how he was gonna make it a night every one of his friends could remember.
