Disclaimers: Never will own vampire knight
Summary: This is based on the opening songs of VK and VK guilty which were by On/Off, a twin band.
In the midst of the city, closing to twilight two brothers just finished mesmerizing the audience, they were Zero and Ichiru Kiryru. They were twin brothers who were orphaned because of a fan's obssesion to their mother's voice, Alinda Kiryuu was known as one of the best female voices of the century. Her voice was as soothing as a harp, strong like a piano and can drone anyone to sleep like a flute. Although their mother was a famed singer, their father's field of work was far from it, he was the owner of a small growing company based on various products that were interesting, to say the least. They were orphaned at the age of seven but no one could adopt them, Zero could never separate from his little brother who's always been frailer, and Ichiru shared his ideals. No one wanted to take on the burden of raising twins, and Ichiru at times refused to go anywhere without his brother. They got out when they were eighteen and with the small fortune that their parents left them, set out to realise their dreams.
At the age of eighteen, Ichiru also got another surprise, at the sight of Zero's tattoo on his neck and multiple piercings. During that time he couldn't help but question his brother, after all Zero was always shielding him from people with those things. The answer came though it was a solemn and entertaining day for both of them, the tattoo was the same one that their mother had below her left collar bone, just above her heart, but the piercings were to differentiate them, and Ichiru could almost understand. The people at the orphanage never cared, to save on money, whenever they grew, one of the staff would take them out to a cheap retail store and get them twin copies of everything…including socks. And the kids were no better, five years after they been sent there, the younger kids couldn't tell them apart, the older kids were purposely call them by the wrong names and various names like the copy cats or twin popsicles. But later they earn the title of twin disasters because of their irritations with the staff and other kids, they became pranksters, pranksters who were so good that no one could point a finger at them after the deed was done, like the time the chef served up what was supposed to be chicken stew… with a live chicken in it.
Ichiru's health during this time, never decreased but it increased slowly, too slowly for Zero's liking. But they were getting around, he was getting various odd jobs along with his part time job while Ichiru often looked after animals in their small apartment… not that he would let Ichiru do anything more straining, but Ichiru would often be persistent enough that he had to give into his brother's requests of allowing him to work outside of their home. They were still pursuing their dreams though, to become singers, the already formed their own band, Addiction/ Betrayal.
Author note: In this AU, Ichiru isn't going to disappear any time soon but I don't think the VK version was weak either, and take a guess which of the brother is addiction or betrayal, it's not complete opposites like on/off but they have their meanings behind them. No pairings for now.
