The Edgar Allen Poe Murders
Chapter 1: The Unknown Contest Prize
By Son of the Specter 992
It was a normal Thursday afternoon as Conan Edigawa returned from school to the house of Richard Moore and his daughter Rachel Moore. These people had been watching Conan ever since he had turned from great high school detective Jimmy Kudo, to young Conan due to an experimental poison given to him by two gang members that had attacked him on the last night that anyone had seen Jimmy Kudo. Rachel Had cared the most for Jimmy and Conan and took Conan under her wing. Richard on the other hand, didn't like Conan as much and would always be happy to get him out of the way. Richard was also a detective. People around the world believe that he is great but all of his great deductions were all the work of Jimmy Kudo, a.k.a., Conan Edigawa.
As Conan entered the apartment, he waved a quick good-bye to his friend Ami and closed the door. Conan was a young child with a slightly large head with black hair and a square of hair sticking up in the back. He wore a pair of large glasses and a black suit with a red bow tie.
He closed the door and entered the living room. He looked around and saw Richard sleeping on the couch with beer cans and burnt out cigarettes surrounding him. Rachel was walking around him, picking up the trash and attempting to wake him up.
'Yup, this is just a normal day. He hasn't moved since I left.' Conan thought to himself.
Rachel looked up from her lazy father to see Conan standing in the doorway laughing like a hyena.
"Well, young man, what do you think is so funny? Would it be the father of mine that happened to miss five client calls?"
Hearing this Richard woke up immediately. "what, Rachel, why didn't you wake me up?"
"I did dad. You told me that the machine would pick it up and to stop waking you up." Rachel looked around from her mediocre detective of a father and turned to Conan. "oh yeah, Conan, you got mail from some contest."
She handed Conan an envelope. "thanks Rachel, but I didn't enter any contest."
He opened the envelope to reveil a ticket and a letter. Conan read it out loud. "To the great minds of our town, we have watched and can tell that of the town, you are among the greatest minds. Enclosed is a special pass for 3 to the Edgar Allen Poe memorial museum. Shirlock Holmes fans are invited if they are smart enough. You must have three people to enter. Please come on June Seventh to the address on the envelope. And once again, Congradulations.
Conan put the letter down and picked up the ticket and discussed going with Rachel and Richard.
