Disclaimer: I do not own Yu-Gi-Oh.

He never wanted it to end like this. He never saw himself as a crazy old man, stealing souls and evoking criticism from cynics and overly-mature individuals alike. They never knew what it was like. They didn't know at all.

He wasn't always this way. He used to be young and free, bound only by his endless adoration to someone he loved. He would have given up anything just to be with her forever, everything from his dashing looks to his father's fortune. Never had he dreamed that he'd give up his sanity as well.

Because now, he was old, old and insane, driven to extreme attempts to reconnect with the only woman who could see through his charismatic, easy-going act.

Every evening, he stared into his wine glass, hoping and praying to even find a glimpse of the man he once knew. But the images never came. And somehow, hidden by his sing-song voice and cartoon-like cards, was the fact that he knew they never would.

A/N: I am perfectly aware that Pegasus is not old age-wise. There are many different definitions of old, and I chose to use that word in another context that just "having lived or existed for a specified time". Sorry to be rude, but this is my character opinion, not yours. Artistic liberty is good, people! D
