Pie is Important
This pie is heaven Bones," Booth said. "Sure you don't want to try it," he said waving the fork with pie on it in front of her face.
"You know I don't like my fruit cooked Booth," she replied with a slight smile.
"Ah well," he said sticking the fork in his mouth. "One day I vow I will convert you into a pie lover," he said with his mouth full.
"Why?"
"Cause pie is important Bones, very important. One of the most important things in my life."
"What do you mean, one of the most important things in your life? What are the others?"
"You serious?" he said, and she nodded. "Well a few things come above it, but not many. You want me to list them all?"
Not really. What's the most important thing in your life to you, then," she said leaning in closer to him.
"I dunno, well, family I guess"
"Of course. Parker and your Mum and Dad. Family bonds are always, anthropologically speaking the strongest bonds. As she said this, however, she was secretly a little disappointed.
"Well yeah there's Parker, but as I said before, there's more than one type of family. You, Angela and Hodgins, and even Zack, you're all part of my family." Her eyes flickered up to his face.
"You're important to me," he said leaning into her face, so they were barely inches apart. "Don't ever doubt that." He smiled at her, and the corners of her mouth twitched upwards in response. He pulled back and using his fork, stuck a bit of pie on to it, and shoved it in his mouth.
"So basically, I'm more important than pie," said Brennan, still trying to get her head around the conversation that had just taken place.
"Yeah," said Booth, "But only a little."
