Chapter 1 James POV-

I just saw Lily in Hogsmeade with another bloke. The reason she turned me down this time was because she wasn't ready for a relationship. I guess that was her excuse. This one hurt worse than all the other times. If he hurts her, he's going to pay for it.

-1 hour later-

I'm sitting in the common room working on a Charms essay that I put off from last night. All of the sudden to portrait hole to the Heads' dorm bursts open. At first I don't react, it is probably just Padfoot doing something stupid or he needs something for a prank. Still, I look up just in case it is something important. As I bring my head up I see a flash of red streak by. It was Lily. I won't bug her right now because I'm probably the last person she wants to see. As she ran past me (without noticing I was there) she was headed toward her dormitory. As I watched her run up the stairs she took a left instead of a right. She ran into my dormitory. I slowly got up and walked up the stairs. When I got close to the door, I listen. I hear crying and I gently push the door open enough to see her sprawled out on my bed crying into my duvet. I look at her for a couple more seconds, push open the door all the way and go into my room quietly. I sit on the edge of my bed and let her cry a little more before disturbing her. I finally decide to say something.

"Lily," I whisper.

She lifts her head up a couple inches to see me. Between hiccups she softly says, "Why'd you come in my room? You didn't have to."

I responded "Well I wanted to make sure you were ok, and actually, you're in my room, but it's alright, don't worry."

"Thank you James, for caring," Lily said.

I started just rubbing her back lightly once she lay back down. A few minutes later she sat up, her face tear-stained and red. She started to say something but I put a finger to her lips and said,

"Wait a second." I went over to my drawer of Honeydukes products and grabbed a couple of pieces of chocolate. I gave them to her and after she finished the chocolate, I let her talk.

"James," she started, "I'm really sorry you have to deal with me like this, I should just go to Alice or Mary, and I should've realized that I went into the wrong dormitory."

"It's alright, we're friends. I'm glad to help," I answered. "Let's get you some dinner and then we can come back here and talk it out."
