So I wrote this as English homework. We had to take a fairytale and write from another character's point of view. So I picked Peter Pan (obviously) and wrote from Captain Hook's perspective, showing us why he hates Peter so much. Have to say, this is a little dark for me. Though I am quite proud that my teacher picked it to read to the class – though it was the one I wasn't there. Balls.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy my take on Peter Pan.

The Dark Side of the Sword

Hook's POV – 3rd

He remembered the day Pan brought the girl and her brothers back, all completely unaware of the danger they were in, but he knew. Peter Pan was a dangerous sociopath wrapped up in a boy's skin. Hook had seen firsthand what he was capable of many years ago when he had his precious Ember taken from him.

She'd been beautiful with her long ebony hair and bright blue eyes that shone like the stars in the stars in the sky. But then Pan caught sight of her, lured her in with his boyish charm and then had his sick way with her before killing her. That's how he, Captain James Hook, lost his hand, how he now lives up to his name, because he'd fought Pan with all his men for what he had done to his daughter.

And then came Wendy.

Wendy was smarter, the smartest of the girls Pan had brought to Neverland. She saw past the fairytale and caught a glimpse of the monster everyone else saw. She'd gone to Hook, a known pirate, and begged him to take her back as she was scared. For her and for her brothers. Hook and his crew agreed to take her back but she had to get her brothers.

They'd succeeded in getting the fairies on their side, they knew of the dangerous boy and what he does and didn't want that fate to fall upon dear, sweet Wendy.

They'd almost made it out but Peter heard what they were plotting and came to stop them with his band of lost boys who all wanted a piece of the girl. A terrible scuffle broke out leading to many lost boys dying and many pirates injured. But as Hook swung his sword, blocking all advances Pan made to end him, he managed to slice his sword across his wrist, his sharp blade cutting through the bone like a hot knife through butter. Peter's eyes widened as he cried out watching as his hand, still clutching the sword tightly, fell to the deck with a clatter. Hook brought his sword up and plunged it into his chest while he was distracted.

Peter Pan was dead.

Soon after the lost boys all surrendered and walked the plank, falling into the shark infested waters below. Turning, Hook found Wendy standing there with her brothers with swords in hand looking relieved that Peter was gone.

"Let's take you home," Hook said, spurring his crew into action, taking Wendy and her brother home, glad that Peter Pan would never be able to harm another girl ever again.
