Discalimer: I (sadly) do not own any of the characters in this fanfiction except for the ones I created. Ned, Cersei and co. rightly belong to both George R. R. Martin and HBO. I surely appreciate comments, reviews and suggestions. Enjoy reading!

Ned's P.O.V.

The common people believed that good things usually happened on sunny days, because the sun is up and shining, and they believed that the gods can see what the people needed and gave it to them, especially those in need. However, on rainy days, when the sun is hiding itself from the earth and the when the gods can't see, ill luck occurs. Most of the commoners believed this, with the exemption of the farmers, who needed water for their crops.

Ned doesn't believe in their superstition. The common people have no idea how wrong their superstition is, he thought to himself. Rain or shine, good or ill luck could befall on anyone. Or could they be right after all?

It was a sunny day when Eddard Stark, Lord of Winterfell and Warden of the North, came into King's Landing. The city was in a bad shape. Men, women, and children alike, some were sick, grievously wounded, dying or dead. Others were lucky, but they still had bruises and scars. And most of all, Lannister men were everywhere. Ned cringed. The Sack of King's Landing left terror and destruction in its wake.

Before this, Ned was on his way to Storm's End to help Stannis. But when he received a raven, stating that Tywin Lannister, Lord of Casterly Rock, and former Hand of the King, was on the march towards King's Landing, he immediately changed course to King's Landing.

Just when Ned was merely a good hour away from the city, he received two ravens. The first stated that Tywin has already arrived, sacked the city and that his son Jaime killed Aerys and his fellow Kinsguard brother. The second message contained word from Robert. He was already on his way to King's Landing, and was two hours far from the city. Ned quickened his pace so he could already be at the city by the time Robert arrives. And that's when he saw the poor state of the city.

When he reached Maegor's Holdfast, a timid boy with blond hair, a built body and a face to make maidens swoon asked shyly what they needed. Ned wondered why such a handsome young lad was so shy. He smiled in return and told him to see to it that his men are fed and rested in rooms, asked directions to the throne room, dismissed the boy, and summoned a few of his companions to accompany him.

When they reached his destination, Eddard Stark never expected to see Jaime Lannister sitting on the Iron throne, his sword glistening red with blood and the room surrounded by Lannister men.

A.N.: I know it's not the best 1st chapter fanfic you've read, but reviews, anyone?
