I was remembering what it was like to be in high school and how difficult it was sometimes, I realized it must have been a hundred times harder for openly gay people. I know there are people who don't make it and who commit suicide; it got me thinking what if Kurt had never gone to spy on the Warblers at Dalton? I want to believe that Kurt is brave he would never succumb to such things but before Blaine, you can see that Kurt was beginning to come apart at the seams. If you beat someone down enough times for a prolonged period of time, something is bound to break whether it is the person's strength or sanity.
So with that in mind I began writing an AU story in which Kurt is being bullied at school and nobody seems to help or care. He considers suicide just to break away from all the pain and torture he suffers on the daily basis, both mentally and physically. He refuses to end his life but only because he knows it will hurt his dad. Then one day his dad remarries and appears to be getting along with his step son Finn, as they go to games and continuously spend guy time together. Kurt can't help but feel like his dad would be fine without him; he has been replaced by Finn. He tries to keep his head up in glee club but Mr. Schuester gives the solos to Rachel. Mr. Schue won't allow him the challenge of performing girl songs in the second annual boys versus girls competition. He just doesn't fit in anywhere anymore. Finally, exasperated Kurt reaches the breaking point when Kurofsky threatens him. After days lost sleep and low energy due to not eating, Kurt attempts to commit suicide.
I don't know if I will make him overdose, cut himself or jump off a building either way he's going to be saved and wake up in the hospital.
This is where Blaine comes in, I'm not sure if Blaine will be in the hospital because he was severely injured due to the fact that he was jumped by some class bullies or not. If I go with this option, then Blaine and Kurt will gradually grow closer and fall in love through their therapy group sessions because they can openly talk about their problems and relate so well.
However I was originally planning to go with Blaine's mother being the psychologist who works at the hospital and Blaine's father who owns the hospital. Blaine's parents work long hours so he passes time by singing to cancer patients, children and the elderly in attempts to lift their spirits.
Their paths collide when Kurt is mandated to speak with a psychologist (Blaine's mom) twice a week ever since he was released from the 36 hour suicide watch he had been placed under. Blaine is singing like always when Kurt hears him one day and hope fills his chest and a calmness takes over, for a brief moment he feels almost happy which he hasn't felt in so long. Anyways I don't want to ruin the plot any further but I just want some feedback whether or not this would make for a good story line. What do you think? Is it worth writing? Let me know. If so I'll post the first chapter by August 8th or so.
