Kelly tugged the over-sized coat around here small frame, hugging it close trying to regain the feeling of warmth. "Thanks for you're jacket." She said softly, looking up to meet the brown eyes of her best friend.

"You're welcome." He responded, nervously stuffing his hands in his jeans pockets.

She smiled at him sweetly, "So what was it that you wanted to tell me?"

His mouth went dry, suddenly loosing the ability to speak at the mention of his secret. Cody wanted to tell her, but every time he tried he seemed to loose his nerve. He thought he finally had worked up the courage when he asked her to come outside to talk away from the noise of the bar, but now he wasn't so sure. "No, you first." He managed to blurt out, "You said you had something to tell me too."

"Well if you insist," She said excitedly, her smile somehow becoming even wider. "Phil finally asked me out!" The blonde squealed, digging her nails into her friends arm. "Isn't that great?"

"Yeah.. just perfect." He mumbled, kicking around the few stones around his feet.

She sighed and looked up at the stars, "He's just so perfect." Kelly cooed, reaching into her pocket for her cell phone to check the time. "Don't you think, Cody?"

He didn't say anything, he just stood there and nodded half heartedly.

"You don't seem thrilled. What's wrong with Phil, Cody? I mean he doesn't do drugs, drink, or sleep around.. he's a good guy just like you keep telling me I need in my life. I just couldn't wait to tell you... after all you're my best friend."

He looked down at his feet, almost cringing at the term,"Yeah." Cody grunted. But when I said you needed a good guy I meant me, he thought to himself.

"Are you ok?" She asked, genuine concern ringing through her voice.

Cody once again nodded, "I think I just had a few to many to drink that's all."

A laugh escaped her lips, "Well you wanna head back inside?" She asked, pointing towards the exit they had come out of. "I've had just about enough fresh air, besides I want to see if Phil wants to dance."

"Naw, you go ahead... have fun. I think I might just call it a night."

"Suite yourself," Kelly replied, turning to head back inside before quickly stopping and turning back around, "Wait, what was it that you wanted to tell me?"

He couldn't meet her gaze, "Oh nothing important," He said quietly, "It can wait."

"Ok," She said cheerily, heading once again back towards the bar. "See you later Coddels."

"I wanted to say that I love you." Cody said to himself, staring at the door she had just disappeared through. "It was nothing important at all."
