The Paths of Hell
I thought that I would never see,
The sight that loomed before my eyes.
A realm of fire, misery,
Bereft of grass, bereft of skies.
…
With the fortress soon behind us all,
We entered Hell, at Cain's behest.
Hoping in the end, terror would fall,
Down here, we did not feel blessed.
…
No sight of the stars or moon,
Nothing to mark the time of day.
All the while, darkness loomed,
Demons many we did slay.
…
Took what rest we could on blackened stone,
Some took sleep while others watched.
In each our souls we were alone,
All suffered inner, secret cost.
…
A fallen angel we did fight,
Who on broken wings would never fly.
Fate decreed we had to fight,
Fate decreed he had to die.
…
Told us that we were all doomed,
And other words he had to tell.
In this realm death always looms,
Such are the ways of Burning Hells.
…
So on we trudge, and these words end,
For soon or late, terror we face.
On us the mortal realm depends,
On what transpires in this place.
…
So if these writings someone finds,
Read them, from the words learn well.
No salvation here for humankind,
Deep within the depths of Hell.
