Chapter One - The Big Announcement
It all happened so fast. No one expected it, I mean who would expect a mystical asteroid to fall out of the sky and effect certain individuals but not others. The chosen ones, as they are called, either gained powers or died an immediate and unexplainable death on the day of the asteroid landing on Earth. NASA found a way to make a list of people that were to be affected by the asteroid but the names turned up in a random order, from random countries and at random times. Thousand of people from all over the world were on the list, all of which were teenagers within the age of 15 and 19.
As soon as a name was discovered, the ATA (Asteroid Training Act - the organization in charge of handling the situation) would rush to the person to mark them with a gorgeous tattoo and then Enlisted them in intense training on the off chance that they will gain powers. Statistics from all over the world dominated the news: thousands from America, hundreds from England and France and so on.
Then came the little announcement that turned out little island, Malta, upside down: only one Maltese teen would be effected. Everyone, including myself, assumed it was a guy. Sexist I know but in my defense this is a mans world. Within a weeks time the chosen one to be's identity would be revealed. And then the day arrived - I can still remember it like it was yesterday.
I was hanging out at my favorite mall with my friends. I was enjoying a mouthwatering Cinnabon that tastes like heaven in your mouth when they showed up. As soon as I realized they were approaching us I realized that one of us were chosen but I naturally assumed that it was Luke or Ben or one of the guys (again I know - sexist) so you can imagine my surprise when they approached me and tattooed me. It was me. I couldn't believe it. I was terrified of dying but at the same time excited of the powers I could possible have.
Then came the training. Sheesh, I never imagined the training would be this tough. I just thought we just had to run a couple of lapse across the block or something. Boy was I wrong. By the day of the asteroid (which was a couple of months after) I swear to God I lost about 44 pounds. The day of the asteroid was an incredible and petrifying day.
Hi my name is Willow and this is my story.
