Disclaimer: The only thing I own is Lizzie, that's it. Everything else Leverage related is not mine.

A/N: I told kausingkayn about this dream and she told me I needed to post it as a story, so my name has been changed to Lizzie's and if you don't know who she is, she is my Leverage roleplay character and is Nate's daughter, an OC of course. I hope you enjoy. Please review.

He'll Come Back…

Tears cascade down my cheeks as I watch him sling the duffle bag over his shoulder and head for the door. He turns to send us one last glance, but when he sees me, I see the pain in his eyes and he reaches out to me. "See me down to my truck?" he asks quietly. Before I realize, my hand offers itself and I feel his strong grasp around it. He leads me down to the elevator and as soon as the button is pushed, the doors slide open and we slip inside.

There is silence until my voice breaks through. "Please…Please Eliot…don't go…" As soon as the words leave my mouth I breakdown sobbing and my entire body shakes. A moment later, his arms wrap around me and hold me tight. My knees buckle and he eases us to the ground, cradling me against his chest and stroking my hair.

"You know I have to, Liz, there is no choice in the matter. I have to go," he says, firmly but softly.

"But you might not come back," I sob. "Please Eliot…stay with me."

Before I can say anything else, his lips are pressing against mine and I kiss back fiercely. I need him. If I can keep him grounded in this moment, maybe he will stay. Maybe I can keep him here with me.

But then the doors slide open again and we find ourselves on the ground floor. He pulls away and I start crying harder than ever. "Please Eliot…don't go…" I beg once more, knowing deep down that it is useless. I cannot stop him now. I never could.

"I will be back Lizzie, I promise darlin'."

He kisses me on the forehead and stands, the duffle bag finding itself back onto his shoulder and he walks out of the elevator, but not before pressing the button for the offices and the "close door" button. The last thing I see as the elevator closes on him is Eliot mouthing three little words that I cry out desperately before it's too late. "I love you!" I cry and he nods.

"I know," he murmurs as the doors close and I am ascending back to the others.

Nate finds me, collapsed in the corner of the elevator, tears unending as they stream pitilessly. He crouches down next to me and pulls me into a hug before the others come in too and join in the embrace. He knew I loved him…he would come back…
