This is not what I thought my first fanfic would be about, but hey, when the idea comes, run with it. It's a headcanon of who that Avox was that Katniss saw when she was being served after the Opening Ceremonies. Un-beta'd cause I never got my beta's review, and I wrote this like 3 months ago so fuck it. So… yeah, this. Enjoy. [The bold is direct quotes from the book, the italics is the Avox thinking.]

"It didn't make a sound, but they saw it."

Gale and I watch the pair from afar. If there was anything we could have done to save them it was too late now. A net dropped down on the girl and carried her up, fast, so fast like the elevator. They shot some sort of spear through the boy. It was attached to a cable and they hauled him up as well.

Screeching in agony, Tally cried, " DAVID! NO!"

He was gone. Just like that.

Tally wrapped her arms around herself and squeezed her eyes shut. David.

Wait.

People! I saw them. Tally quickly opened her eyes to try to see if they were still there, but it was too late. The hovercraft sped away, back to Special Circumstances near the Capitol.

The netting she was encased in began to be pulled up. She considered slashing away at the rough strings surrounding her, but it was pointless. Either way she was dead.

The machine pulled her up to a dark, closet-like room and the floor where she was drawn up from sealed shut with the a hush metal clang. A door behind her was slid open by a man with a lab coat and harsh facial features. The man stepped back and stood over to the right to allow the all too familiar wench into view.

"Tally! So nice to see you again."

Tally grimaced, closing her eyes to quickly open them again, looking directly at the fierce-looking woman in front of her, "Dr. Cable."

"That's the last thing I wa- oh! I know you!"

The girl.

A text appeared in front of her eyes: Tally, get back here, we need everyone on staff, I don't care about the mishap!

-sigh- What does it matter now? I'm stuck. A slave to the Capitol.
