Just Kidding
Waiting patiently outside - for once - Inuyasha sighed as he sat up in the Goshinboku.

Hearing the sliding front door open and close, his ears perked as he heard light footsteps.

"Hey Inuyasha!" She smiled and waved as she ran to the base of the large tree. As she approached him, her smile slowly faded as it was replaced with a frown.

"What's wrong, Kagome?" Inuyasha asked as he jumped down from the tree.

"Nothing really," She said, pausing for a bit. "Grampa just told me a story about the history of our shrine."

"Really? What kind of crap did he make up this time?"

"He said that the previous owner of the shrine killed his wife and children," She paused again. "And the owner before that, killed himself! I wonder if our shrine is...is..."

"Haunted?" Inuyasha finished for her, and unknowingly to her, he smirked. Kagome gulped as she heard that word. "You wanna know something about the Goshinboku, Kagome?"

"What?" His smirk grew wider as her voice shook.

"A couple of days ago - when you were still here in your era, a woman killed herself by hanging herself off of that branch," He pointed to a random branch of the tree and got rid of his smirk.

"She...she d-did?" Trying his best to keep a straight face, Inuyasha continued.

"Yeah, and remember you said that you heard a voice when you were home alone? Maybe that was her?" Kagome's eyes grew wide with fear.

She began to retrace her steps and back away from the tree. Inuyasha bit his lip to restrain from laughing.

But as Kagome was backing away, she tripped over a small rock.

"Watch out!" Inuyasha's reflexes came into action as he caught her arms and pulled her to him.

"Inu...yasha..." She said, her voice laced with fear as she was tucked carefully into his arms. At this, Inuyasha smiled genuinely down at her.

"Don't worry, I was just kidding." With that, Kagome's anger flared.

"You idiot!" She pulled out of his embrace and slapped him lightly on the arm. "You tricked me!"

Inuyasha didn't say anything, but he leaned forward and gave her a soft kiss. Kagome's lip curved up into a smile.

Pulling away, and smiling at her for a couple of seconds, Inuyasha raced towards the very thing that brought Kagome to him in the first place.

"Hurry up and get back, before the ghosts get you!"

Kagome let out a laugh as she dashed off towards the well house.
