Hello~ I'm actually a sucker for classic literature-I am well-known (or so I hope) in the Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney section, a video game series-so I thought I'd try my hand at a fanfiction of a classic lit novel that changed my life: 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. When I finished reading it, I was convinced that Nemo and Aronnax were dating or in some sort of romantic relationship. If anything, they had lingering feelings for each other at least. Okay, screw this long author note; it's time for the story!

I was about to fall asleep in the saloon, writing and reflecting on that day's amazing excursion, when I was jolted awake by the sound of the organ. Captain Nemo was pressing keys randomly and appeared to be in deep thought. I admired, once again, his tall stature, with the addition of his long and majestic fingers, gently pressing the white keys.

"Captain?" I called out with uncertainty. I didn't want to disturb the man's thoughts, but did he even notice I was here?

His eyes, the color of the deep sea in which he resided, flickered towards me for a second, but he made no sign of greeting or recognition.

My God! If only I could read whatever goes on in this man's mind, my life would be so much more simple. The captain brings out my temper-and the woman-in me.

Getting tired of his ignoring me, I stepped out to go to my room when I felt a hand on my shoulder. I froze instantly. My heartbeat rose inordinately.

"Professor," he spoke hoarsely with a touch of huskiness, "don't leave the room quite yet."

The man's voice was enticing, more than usual. I turned around slowly and carefully, only to see that the Captain's face was incredibly close to mine. He pushed me against a wall. Certainly, something was quite wrong with his character at this moment. However, I don't think I mind.

To tell the truth, I have never romanced a woman in my life, much less a man. Now, that certainly seems like a rather fast conclusion, but there was enough evidence to suggest something of the sort.

He brought his face very close to min, and whispered very huskily, "Monsieur le Professeur... Forgive my daring actions, but I have realized that I have fallen deeply in love with you. Your thoughts, Professor?" His voice had a bit of cynicism, as usual, and... something that I couldn't quite place.

I was stunned-speechless! His dauntlessness knows no bounds. But... I found myself returning his feelings. I released a breath I did not even know I was holding and responded albeit shakily, "I return these feelings, Captain. And quite deeply as well."

His blue eyes sparkled like they did when he talked to me about his oceanic world. A smiled fluttered on his face as his eyes slowly went down from my eyes to my lips. The fleeting smile turned into a dark one. What could he possibly be thinking?

"Aronnax..."

That was the first time the Captain has called me by anything resembling my name. I waited patiently for him to continue.

"I would like to invite you an excursion... to my bedroom."

I smiled back as I followed the man to his study. This may be the best excursion I have ever been to with my beloved captain.

What'd you guys think? Was Aronnax in character? I hope so, but I really don't knoooowww! Please give me your feedback and further advice on how to make both Aronnax and Nemo seem more IC (in character).
