Darkness and shadows have filled my life. No longer do the sweet and tremulous songs of the birds enlighten my heart as they used to as I walked this very path. My ears are deafened to the merry laughter and song of my friends as they trod along side me, oblivious to my great sorrow. As I turn my head upward to stare at the canopy of woven trees above embracing each other with leafy arms my heart breaks for I know I may never see those trees again. I let out a long sigh and the trees around me shudder as if they could feel my torment. Not even the sound of fair elven voices raised in song could alleviate the heaviness of my heart. I drop my eyes down to stare at the moss covered ground. A single icy tear of pain rolls down my cheek. Will I ever see my home again?
