She found him sleeping, in the middle of the training field.
"So you were here."
Shikamaru opened his eyes and yawned, staring right into Temari's eyes.
Her hands went to her hips. "You were meant to meet me outside the tower almost an hour ago."
He blinked a few times, trying to focus his gaze.
"Oh, Temari. Sorry, I was, uh, training some genin, and fell asleep after all the hard work."
"Really?"
"Really."
She looked around. "So do you mind telling me where these genin are?"
Shikamaru lifted his head and scanned the rest of the empty field.
He looked back up at her and shrugged. "They must have left."
Temari sighed. "You know, Nara, you're a terrible liar."
Shikamaru smirked. "Well do you know, Mrs Nara, that you can be a terrible pain in the ass."
She smiled. "And do you know that you're being a terrible husband?"
"And do you know that you're doing a terrible job for not doing anything about it?"
She sat down slowly beside him, before slapping him in the back of the head.
Shikamaru chuckled and she joined in, laying her head on his shoulder.
He looked at her. "Honestly, I don't know what the big fuss is all about. Meeting with Tsunade was something you did a lot before you lived here. I don't think you need to be so impatient about seeing me afterwards."
"That laziness, rudeness, and lack of consideration." She looked at him and smiled.
"You'd make a terrible father."
Shikamaru rolled his eyes. "When I get to that bridge, then I'll get ready to cross it. For now, I'll just be the laid back, free speaking Shikamaru."
She gave him a warm smile. Kissing him on the forehead, she got up.
"Well than you better be getting ready."
He raised an eyebrow.
Temari sighed. "Why did you think I went to visit Tsunade?"
Shikamaru looked at her knowingly, surprise and shock written on his face.
"That's right, Nara." She smirked.
"You're crossing that bridge."
