Ronald Weasley was sitting in his room on his bed looking at his beautiful bushy haired friend, Hermione. She was not paying attention to his curiosity, rather paying attention to the piles of books and supplies. She had been packing for their horcrux hunt. He watched her, studied her. She was wearing a comfortable shirt and old blue jeans, her wand in her right back pocket. She had her hair up in a pony tail. She was thinking, possibly flustered, he thought. He knew this by the way her eye brows move closer together and a thin line appeared on her forehead. He had known her for nearly seven years, he has loved her for nearly four years. Yes, they have clashing personalities, they both knew that, however they complimented each other so well. He loved her stern ways, her compassion for others, her knowledge, her courage, and he even loved her will of fighting back. He wants her to know this, but he misses several chances.

"Ron, hello!" she said as she waved her hand in front of his face.

"Oh sorry Mione, uh lost in thought." he confessed.

"Hand me that one, Ronald" she said to him.

"Blimey Hermione!" Ron said as he picked up the heavy book, "Do you think Hogwarts a History will be important enough to lug around?"

"Gosh I don't know, put it into the maybe pile."

"Hermione come on take a break it's been hours."

"Ron we need to be ready, and besides I only have half of the essentials packed."

He grabbed her arm gently and pulled her to his side. He liked the closeness they've been sharing over the last few days.

"Fine, fine, you're right." she admitted

They sat on his bed, just listening to the hustle and bustle of wedding planning floors below. He reached for her hand and they just continued to sit there content. Mrs. Weasley was now approaching the room and their unseen bond broke and Hermione stood up just as Mrs. Weasley peeked in. Ron sighed in defeat, he only gets a few rare moments like these with Hermione and his mum just ruined it.

"It's getting late you two and you have more chores to do in the morning." she said.

"Alright, well I'm going to bed. Don't stay up to late." Mrs. Weasley said.

"Goodnight Mrs. Weasley" Hermione said.

"Night, mum" said and irritated Ron.

Hermione restarted her endless packing.

"Hermione?"

"Yes Ron?"

"Come sit with me again."

"But I have to finish packing."

"Tomorrow" he called

She walked over and sat with him once more.

He somehow plucked up the courage, for he knew he might not have another chance when Harry arrived. "Hermione I want to apologize for everything I've ever done to you over the past seven years. I just want you to know that you mean everything to me. You're my best friend. And I know we have hard times coming but I also know that we will get through them together." He sat there as nervous as ever for her response.

She had tears in her and eyes and reluctantly a few escaped.

He hadn't wanted this! He didn't want to make her cry, for Merlin's sake that was the opposite of his motives. He wanted her to be happy with him in their last few days together, alone.

"Oh Ronald" she said as she wiped her tears.

"I care for you too, you know that. You are my best friend, you too mean the world to me!"

"But you don't understand. I want to be-" he struggled for the words, "more than friends I guess."

"What took you so long?"

Not wanting to miss another opportunity he leaned in and they kissed.

They both sighed and continued sitting in their tranquil state.
