A Chaotic View of an Empire's Fall

by StorySpy

In her long time as ruler of Equestria, Princess Celestia has been through many events. One such event was the tragedy which saw her and her sister Princess Luna fail to protect the Crystal Ponies from King Sombra's curse which made the Crystal Empire disappear for a thousand years. That was long ago. A thousand years later, the Crystal Empire returned...and Sombra returned with it. However, it was thanks to the efforts of Princess Cadance and the others that the Sombra was defeated and supposedly destroyed. Again, that was long ago.

Now, however, things had changed for the worse. The Crystal Empire had just been invaded by a band of dangerous troublemakers that were assembled by a mysterious stranger. These bullies were swiftly dealt with, but this was actually a distraction that allowed their benefactor to steal the Crystal Heart and use it to do the unthinkable...revive King Sombra. As a result, the only ones that stand a chance of saving the day were defeated and captured. That was the sight that greeted the sisters.

Realizing how bad the situation was, Celestia and Luna galloped into action. As Luna engaged Queen Chrysalis in battle, Celestia took on Sombra. Although the sisters and the villains were evenly matched in power and strength, Celestia and Luna were gaining the upper hand. However, Celestia was attacked by an unexpected interloper that she hadn't seen in a millennium. She turned out to be the one who brought the changeling queen and the other troublemakers together, stole the Crystal Heart, and resurrected her friend.

"Hope?" gasped a shocked Celestia, "I thought you were lost! Why would you..."

Radiant Hope answered, "It was my fault the first time. I couldn't let you hurt Sombra again. He's my best friend."

Celestia was so shocked at the Crystal Pony's betrayal that she took no notice of Luna's battle with Chrysalis, although if she did, she'd notice that the princess was winning against the queen. She would've been proud of her little sister, by the way. With anger in her eyes, she prepared to launch a magic attack that was meant to incapacitate Radiant Hope and wipe out the king, but Sombra charged up much faster.

"How I've longed for this revenge," said the king as he took aim at his targets, "Goodbye, princesses."

Sombra then let loose with a powerful energy blast that hit the sisters with full force. There was a light that blinded everyone in the area. After a short while, the light dissapated to reveal that Sombra had trapped the sisters in stone. The Princesses have been defeated. The Crystal Empire had fallen.

However, for some reason, someone left a camera behind to record the whole event. And it is that very same someone who was at home watching this recording on a TV that he conjured up while he was hanging from the ceiling like a bat. Of course, it helped that he was composed of the body parts of a bat, a goat, and several other animals, and that he has magic powers as well.

"Oh dear," said Discord, "I do believe that these guys are in trouble. I should probably help them out..."

After a few seconds, he added, "..if one of my favorite shows wasn't on right at this moment."

So Discord changed the channel to something that best suited the intrest of a spirit of chaos.

As the theme song for Gravity Falls played, Discord giddily said, "Oh, I do hope the sweater girl does something funny! She's my favorite, you know."
