Yumi was slipping.
She had fallen off yet another cliff and was being held up only by her friend, and no matter how reluctant they were to admit it, true love Ulrich Stern. But it got worse.
Ulrich was also slipping.
He hadn't slid too far though, if he let go of Yumi, he could pull himself up, help Aleta get to the tower, and save the day.
He could divurtualize Yumi, but he couldn't reach his swords without dropping her.
Or he could hold on to his love and perhaps Odd...
Too late Odd's divurtualized.
And Aleta needed help.
He'd wait for Jeremie to divurtalize Yumi, but Xana had knocked him out.
Yumi was still slipping.
She told him to let go, that Jeremie would pull her back.
She told him that if he didn't let go, Jeremie wouldn't be pulling anybody back.
She promised she would come back.
Ulrich helped Aleta to the tower, where she launched a return.

They were sitting in the Factorie, all but one
Jeremy turned around and told them she was back, but without her memory of what happened after she slipped
Ulrich went down to the scanner room while Jeremie started up the materialization.
He asked her if she had really forgotten
She admitted to feigning amnesia to escape questioning
She said that even quoting Jim wouldn't have stopped Odd's teasing.
When the rest of the group joined them they were hugging.
Yumi leaned in and whispered in Ulrich's ear:
"I promised"
