While I was watching, under the fire I thought about this,I changed Josh's job, this is just a one shot.
"We need you to go on call, Dr. Davidson."
"Yeah, sure can do. Where at?" Thee doctor got up from his seat and started packing his things..
"It's an on site call. Officers trapped in a building. You'll have to talk to Captain Gates."
"Captain?" He was finally making the connection.
"Yeah, the NYPD." His supervisor left then, leaving him to process. "Yes, Kate." He thought as he got more excited.
He saw her from a far. She looked about the same, still beautiful. She was alone; her and writer boy must have had a falling out, because he wasn't there with her. He was thinking, "If he's in the fire, I could comfort her."
He was about to walk towards her, when he saw him. He stopped in his tracks. He saw her put her head under his neck, and wrap her arms around his neck. He crushed her in an embrace, his arms tucked in. He kissed the top of her head, rocking her back and forth. She actually looked like she wanted to be in his arms.
"Doctor." He was pulled out of his thoughts by his colleague calling him.
"Coming." He turned with one final look, and walked away.
There was a woman in labor, her husband stuck in the fire. "What are you doing here? I've got this under control." Lanie said bitterly when she saw him.
"I'm a doctor. I was sent to take care of this." He paused, knowing that this was her best friend, but not remembering her name.
"Lanie."
"Yeah, I knew that."
"Mhm." She raised an eyebrow; sass. "Maybe if you were a little more involved and there more, you would remember my name."
He looked away and caught sight of Kate and Castle again.
"Leave her. She's happy, happier than she's ever been. Even more happy than when she was with you."
He rustled his hair. "Have they told each other yet?"
"Yes. They're in love, and getting married."
"Married?" Josh nearly screamed.
"That's what I said." Lanie rolled her eyes.
He spoke now, not really talking to anyone. "I knew it was him. It was always him."
"They went out for a year after you guys." Lanie had to throw that in there, making Josh's heart sink.
"Hello, Kate."
She saw him out of the corner of her eye. "What do you want?"
"I see you're with writer boy." He was heartbroken.
"It's been three years, Josh. Get over it." She was in no mood to be dealing with this.
"I waited for you. I even showed up at your place, only to find you've basically moved out.
She was confused. "How exactly did you think this night was going to end?"
"You would come back to me." He was being completely honest.
"I would never."
"So you're really marrying writer boy?"
"Yes." She held up her left hand displaying her ring.
"All the years I spent waiting for you, and you never came back." Josh lowered his gaze.
"I'm not talking about this. My family is in there fighting for their lives. Goodbye, Josh." She left him again, and this time, he knew she was never coming back.
