A Christmas Carol Epilogue

"Mr. Scrooge! Mr. Scrooge!", said a boy named Tiny Tim. "Can we go a little bit faster?"

Tiny Tim, a young poor boy wearing nothing but worn-out clothes, was waving and cheering "Merry Christmas" to anybody who passed by them- smiling with innocence that could melt the icicles of winter. The old man was the most cold -hearted person in town. He never paid mind to the penniless. He has the riches but never donated to charity. He always said that, "Money is more important than to give a cent to the unlucky jobless misfits who couldn't survive on their own". He made everyone's life around him miserable. He is practically the perfect picture of a selfish goblin. But would you believe that this same selfish old man is now carrying a poor child on his shoulders and even greeting a Merry Christmas with a care-free smile to all who walked by is Mr. Scrooge?

"Hold on my dear boy", said Mr. Scrooge, "I'm going as fast as I can."

Mr. Scrooge saw an old rickety sled and an idea popped into his head.

"Boy, lets go for a ride."

Mr. Scrooge hopped onto the sled along with Tiny Tim and started sledding down to the busy snowy streets of town. Dodging every obstacle and passing by annoyed yelps while joyfully laughing in their way.

All of a sudden…

BOOOM!

They crashed into a tree and ended up sprawled into a heap of snow.

"Mr. Scrooge!", shouted Tiny Tim as his head popped out from the snow. "Are you all right?"

Mr. Scrooge was currently stuck face-planted into the snow. Tiny Tim saw this and pulled out before he suffocates. You would be expecting him to be yelling that it was the most ridiculous act that he ever did but a sudden mirth escaped from his mouth.

"My boy, I never had this much fun since I was a little tyke like yourself", chuckled Mr. Scrooge.

They looked around and realized that they where in a secluded area in a forest with a frozen lake in the middle. An awe escaped from their lips at the beauty of it.

"Look Mr. Scrooge", said Tiny Tim as he pointed to the lake and then dragged Mr. Scrooge to it.

"Wait my boy!", said a frantic Mr. Scrooge, "I don't know how to skate!"

"Don't worry Mr. Scrooge", Tiny Tim reassured to him, "You'll get a hang of this".

They proceeded to skate on the lake. Mr. Scrooge was failing miserably as each time he tried to but Tiny Tim is there to lift him up from his bum and helped him how to skate. As each passing minute, Mr. Scrooge was learning and being filled with great joy. They are now laughing and spinning care-free around the lake. Mr. Scrooge was moving in such delight, he almost didn't notice the three transparent figures hovering above the trees. He stopped and looked up. It was the three Christmas spirits-Past, Present and Future. They waved at Mr. Scrooge before the wind vanished them into nothingness but he thought he saw a heart warming smile underneath the hooded face of Christmas Future.

"Hey Mr. Scrooge" , called Tiny Tim, "What's keeping you?"

Mr. Scrooge turned his head to Tiny Tim and said, "Nothing my dear boy just saying goodbye to old friends".

Tiny Tim crossed his arms and wondered.

"Come my boy let's go home", said Mr. Scrooge as he took hold of Tiny Tim's hand and went on their way home but turned his head towards the space where the three spirits appeared. He smiled with a new sense of hope and said…

"Thank You"

"The End"

"I will honor Christmas in my heart and strive to keep it all the year. I shall live in the Past, the Present, and the Future. The Spirits of all three shall strive within me! I shall not shun out the lesson that they teach." –Scrooge, A Christmas Carol
