She Knew It

...why do you ask such cruel things?...
Blah, blah, blah, ENJOY! XD
He liked baseball. No, he loved baseball. It was practically his favorite sport, and she knew it. She knew how much he would dream about becoming a famous baseball player. She knew how many baseball cards he had collected, marveling over their beauty. She knew the deep passion he held for the sport. She knew it all and she refused to forget that love.
One day he just stopped. He stopped loving baseball. He stopped dreaming. He stopped collecting cards. He just stopped. And that was the day it looked like his passion had died, but she didn't believe it. She knew there was still a place deep inside his heart that held the undeniable love for the sport. She knew, and she refused to think otherwise.
She didn't know what happened. She didn't know what made him stop loving baseball. She didn't know how he could easily forget his childhood obsession. She wanted to, she wanted to know, and she refused to give up before she did.
She walked into his room when he was away and looked through his stuff. She found no cards, no hats, no autographed balls. She found nothing. She knew they were hidden somewhere, but she found absolutely nothing.
She bent down on her hands and knees and stared under the bed. A small frown tugged at her lips as she once again came up empty-handed. Just as she was getting up, the boy walked into his room, a broom in hand.
"Ururu, Urahara wants us to clean up," he said forcefully, tossing a broom to her. He said nothing about the fact that she was in his room. He turned away from the timid girl and began to walk out of his room.
"Why...?" she asked quietly, a tight grip on the wooden broom giving her more confidence. "Why don't you love baseball anymore?"
The redhead looked directly in her eyes and smiled sincerely. "'Cause I found something better," he replied before leaving the room.
A small smile danced on her lips for she understood the hidden meaning. And it made her feel good.
But baseball was still a deep passion for him, and she knew it. She knew she'd have to continue to compete with it. And she was willing.
