[.Chapter One.]

A whirlwind of pale pink obscured her vision, her once sure and quick steps faltering un-easily as she halted. The girl's slender hands reached out and cupped together as the soft pink sakura petals rained down on her gently. Three just three! She thought closing her eyes tightly; hoping three petals would fall into her out stretched hands. She stood there with a soft spring breeze tugging at her pigtails, biting her lip in concentration as she dared open her eyes. Glancing into her cupped hands, she sighed, there were five petals in her hands. With slight annoyance she pulled her hands apart and un-cupped them, causing the petals to drift slowly down to the tiled concrete below.

With a sigh she brushed off her shoulders and soft brown hair, a vibration in her breast pocket startling her. Quickly she grabbed her orange covered Galaxy Nexus SII, the caller I.D blinked angrily at her; Miku-chan. "Ah!" she exclaimed receiving the call, putting it up to her ear in one swift movement. "Miku-chan! I'm so sorry! I was running late and then I got dis-" the girl began hurriedly, before getting cut short by her friend on the other end.

"Chihiro, its fine, I wanted to call to tell you I can't make it to the Library for our Art Club today."

Chihiro smiled smugly despite herself, "Oh?" she replied mischievously, "you can't make it because your Boyfriend's in town right? Have fun!" she said the last bit quickly before hanging up.

Placing her phone back into her trusty pocket, she trudged over to a park bench, dusted heavily with flower petals from the shedding Cherry Blossom trees that lined the whole pathway on both sides. Letting out a sigh, Chihiro played with one of her long pigtails, feeling her soft hair between her thumb and forefinger as she watched people –mostly couples- walk by. Ugh! I hate seeing couples together, its makes me feel so lonely! She thought with despair, pushing her lower lip out in a slight pout, placing a fist under her chin, her elbow digging into her mid-thigh area.

After sitting there like that for a while, watching people get on with their lives, she saw a girl and a boy holding hands; dressed in their school uniforms, the girl had long reddish-blonde dyed hair, but the boy…had black hair that was long enough to just reach his chin. Chihiro's breath caught in her throat, Haku? She thought, staring intently at the two, the boy glanced over, his eyes finding hers, Chihiro's heart started to beat so fast it felt like it would burst out of her chest. The boy smiled and waved at her, "Haku!" she yelled as the couple disappeared in the crowd. Standing up, she pushed through the crowd, searching fervently as she was jostled and pushed by others, "Haku!" she called again, though she knew he was long gone.

Her eyes snapped open, her hair sticking to her face from the sweat and trees, Just a dream… she reminded herself sternly. Catching her breath and stretching, Chihiro slowly sat back up in a sitting position, coming to the conclusion she must have fallen asleep here on the bench. Grabbing her phone she checked the time, 5:03!? She thought feeling panicky as she grabbed her bag, throwing her phone in it and racing down the path, bobbing and weaving through the people and towards the bus stop. Just a dream…
