The Undead Menace

Chapter One

'In other news, several people were arrested last night after a bar fight broke out. 5 people were arrested and taken to the hospital for minor cuts and bites. Thank you for watching channel 8 news and have a good night.' Josh Samwell turned off his television and stretched out on his couch. After a long, busy night being an EMT he was ready for some sleep, but he couldn't stop thinking about the news report that just aired.

"Weird", he thought aloud, "That they didn't mention that they were bleeding heavily from those minor cuts and bites." He remembered putting those people in the ambulance before climbing in the front and driving off. The guy that had the bite had low vitals and wasn't responding. As soon as they reached the hospital they were all rushed to ICU. Josh yawned and stretched again. "Oh well," Josh thought aloud again, "It must not have been released yet."

"NYPD, hands in the air, NOW!" Carter yelled. He was a yet another fight, the forth tonight. The other person had run off, but this guy was looking at him almost blankly. "Sir, get down on your knees, now!" Carter yelled again. The person lurched forward and swung at Carter. He nimbly dodged the blow and brought the pistol butt crashing down on his attackers head. The suspect stumbled forward and fell to the ground. Carter knelt on the ground, grabbing the man's arms, brought them behind his back and cuffed him.

Carter brought the man back on his feet and led him back to his squad car, while dodging the guy's attempts to bite him. "Cut it out! What the hell is your problem?!" Carter exclaimed before shoving him in the back of the squad car.

"Dispatch, this is unit 41 over." Carter spoke into his radio and waited for a response. A few seconds later he tried again. "Dispatch this is unit 41, over." Still nothing but static. "Dispatch, this is unit 41. I'm enroute to HQ with one suspect in custody, over." Carter waited for a few seconds for a response and shrugged. Getting back in his squad car Carter noticed how quiet it was. Usually when people saw a squad car there was usually a small crowd watching the fight, but it was dead silent. Feeling more than a little creeped out Carter flipped on his lights and sirens and sped off towards HQ.
