Mist covered the dark streets. It hovered thickly, blocking out the meager light the lampposts provided. But, despite how dense it was, it still didn't manage to blot out the moon.

The chilly air had a soft breeze to it, moving the mist along with it. Tall buildings lining the streets gave it a sinister look. The fact that the mist swirled and snaked everywhere didn't help much.

At midnight, not a soul was about — save for the Halloween parties scattered throughout town. A particular one was on the south side of the city. There was nothing special about the party. At least, not the party itself. Within, teenagers danced and got wasted.

A man stood in a dark, dank alleyway. He leaned against the brick wall and crossed his arms. This is where he would wait.
