The people of the Capitol sit on the edge of their seats, waiting for something to happen. Katniss and Rue stand on the cornucopia. Katniss drops her bow and throws off the cornucopia. She does the same to her knife. She throws them both in the direction of where Peeta and Cato fell off the cornucopia, she had shot him in the wrong place and they fell off, together. Rue throws her slingshot off in the same direction. They stagger closer until they're face to face.
"It's me and you Rue."
Rue looks at Katniss with a rebellious smile. "It's both of us, or neither of us. You hear?"
Katniss grins. "I like where you're going Rue."
They sit at the edge of the cornucopia and talk about life at district 11 and 12 some more. Katniss tells Rue about her sister Prim. Rue tell Katniss about her family and friends. The Capitol give up and send some mutts back in. Katniss decides what she should have done all along.
"I guess it's none of us." She hands Rue some Nightlock. "Put it in your mouth but don't chew or suck. Trust me."
She says it so quiet she leaves Rue questioning if she said it right, or heard it right. But she sees Katniss do exactly as said so she copies. She can already hear the screams of the Capitol.
"Stop! Stop! I give you the victors of the 74th annual hunger games! Katniss Everdeen and Rue Stenberg!"
They climb the ladder to get in the hovercraft and Katniss sends Rue a wink.
This wont be the end. Rue thinks.
