Jess POV
I looked into the mirror and tilted my head. Something wasn't quite right. There was something missing. Suddenly, something silver reflected off the sun and caught my eye. I smiled. Of course that was the missing item. My bracelet from Darcy. I walked over to my dresser and slid it on then took one last look in the mirror. Perfect.
Today was the day of Darcy's graduation party and I wanted to look good, even though I knew he would be busy talking to family and friends.
"Jess, five minute warning!" called my mother.
"Okay!" I responded.
I slid on a pair of black flip flops to match my long summer dress, then I walked downstairs.
I sat at the table anxiously as I waited for Ryan to finish getting ready. After some yelling from my parents, he slowly made his way down the creaky wooden stairs.
"Come on Ry, we're already late" I scold.
"Calm down, you're not supposed to be right on time anyways." he replied.
"Get in the car kids!" my dad yelled from outside.
I let Ryan crawl into the back seat and I sit in the seat in front of him.
I look out the window as the car pulls away. Why am I nervous? It's just a graduation party. I had already been to three this summer. But there was something special about this one of course. A lot of the Hawthorne family would be there. It's not like I hadn't met them before, I had. But for a few of them, that was before me and Darcy were together. His cousins don't come around too often.
I sighed in my head as we stopped at the corner of Lowell Road. We turned left and I looked ahead and saw several cars parked by the Hawthorne's house.
I scoped them out, looking for the Wong's familiar hybrid, the Sloane's big van, or the Chadwick's black SUV. At the end of the row I spot a little hybrid, but there's no sign of the other vehicles yet.
My dad parks behind a red pickup truck and we get out things and pile out of the car.
I know this is really really short, but I already have more written and thought this would be a good place to separate the chapter. This is my first fanfiction so please review!
