Kai loved to observe Aichi.

He used to watch him from a safe distance, watching as Aichi cardfighted, improving with each fight, a smile hidden by his hand cupping his face and pressing on his cheek so the content grin would deform.

Though, sometimes it didn't help.

Miwa would often tease Kai, poking him with a finger until Kai snapped, giving his best friend a deadly cold glare. He would laugh sheepishly in return, putting his hands up in defeat.

He closed his eyes, his vision fading into black as his bangs fell down and shadowed his face as he fell asleep, his hand still on his cheek, his warm smile still on his face-

"Kai kun!"

Kai jerked awake, ready to snap right at the person who interrupted his two second nap, his head twisting around and bumping into another one.

Kai'a head flopped back on the table, hugging his head, the forehead throbbing as he caressed it, trying to ease the pain, as he looked up from the corner of his eye, giving a glare.

Aichi was behind him, rubbing his head, his fingers moving messily as he attempted to both comfort his aching head and wipe away his teary eyes.

"Ah, sorry Kai kun. Did I interrupt you?"

The brunet's eyes softened, his smile brightening barely as he recognized the bluenet.

"It's fine, Aichi. I was the one who moved so quickly."

Aichi smiled, walking to the counter to ask Misaki for ice packs. Kai let his face relax as he set his head back on the table, eyelids sealed shut as he started drifting back into sleep, a dream slipping in his vision of black-

"Kai kun?"

Kai growled, snapping up, widening his eyes as he realized he was getting closer to someone again. Kai widened his eyes, his shocked gaze boring into a surprised blue one as he felt his lips touch a softer, smaller pair.

Gravity caused him to lean in more, his teeth banging harshly with other teeth, muffled yelps from both of them as they fell on the floor, spasms of pain pulsing in Kai's teeth.

Kai was the first to break the kiss, hefting himself up with his arms, a string of saliva connecting their lips as his angry glare pierced and focused on who it was- who interrupted his nap, who accidently kissed him, who made his teeth feel like he just bit a rock, widening his eyes.

It was Aichi, lifting up a hand to cover his mouth to both ease the pain and just cover his gawking mouth, his other hand holding two ice packs. Kai and Aichi's face flushed in sync, both of them different shades of red as Kai lifted himself up and helped Aichi up afterwards.

"S-Sorry!" Both of them spluttered, and both of them widened their eyes in sync. The other kids who were spectating were either gawking or holding in a laugh. Kai gave them all a fierce glare, and despite his face being as red as a cherry (which made him slightly less intimidating), they all scurried away, returning to do whatever they were doing.

Aichi handed him an ice pack, and he gratefully took it, pressing it on his aching jaw. They stood there, silently staring at each other, until Aichi's expression broke into a giddy smile, Kai following afterwards, and then both of them crumpling into a fit of laughing, the hysterical laughter freaking out most of the kids and making them walk out, giving Misaki a look that told her 'We'll be back when things are less awkward'. Misaki didn't respond, halfheartedly glaring at the laughing couple.

They both wheezed, collapsing on the floor, attempting to stop laughing.

"Sorry, Kai kun." Aichi apologized once he had collected himself.

"It's alright." Kai placed the ice pack aside, sitting on the table, no longer bothering to sleep.

"Uh, Kai kun, why aren't you using the ice pack? It'll ease the pain, right?"

Kai couldn't help but smile, brushing the ice pack aside more, until it was against the wall.

"I think I want the pain to last as long as possible."
