Notes: Today
was a busy day. I was celebrated as a teacher, a honor which I don't
deserve, and then some. But for some reason, today's drabble is dark,
filled with that sense of... emptiness that just made me think "The
Gemini Twins" almost instantly.
Unshed
Tears.
"It
is the purpose that makes strong the vow; But vows to every purpose
must not hold."
It was a tradition of sorts. A private rite he part took each year. He knew some of his companions were considerably curious about his antics, but he never paid them much heed.
Murderer.
He walks to the lone rock to watch the sea waves swinging. He sits there for an eternity and a minute, and he hopes he can hear him too. He sits there, until the sun is long gone, until he can't feel his fingers from the cold, until the nagging voice arrives.
You'll be next.He never looks back as he walks away, as he didn't look back all those years ago, listening to his brother's cries of desperation, knowing well that if he turned, he would free him. He would break a vow.
And your pretty vows have done you lots of good.Saga ignores the mocking voice. At first, it was a loud screeching that drove him insane; when he finally began ignoring it, it became a taunting whisper, doubting and questioning everything he did, merely for the sake that it was him doing it.
Look as he goes, the Mighty Gemini Saint! He killed his brother to claim his cloth!
Saga doesn't want to admit the snide remarks started the day the bars at Cape Sunion sunk into earth, leaving behind half of his soul.
Pretty little Saint of Athena, what do you think the Goddess will give you for your loyalty when she finds out? Fame? Glory? Power? He finds Milo on his way back to his temple, and the encounter is tense. Ever since Kanon disappeared, Milo became hostile towards him. Apparently they had been closer than he ever figured out.
I'll tell you what she will not give you. She won't bring your brother back nor will she take the scar of guilt off your chest. As every year, once his ritual is complete, the Anniversary celebrated accordingly, Saga recovers his scarce belongings, and leaves the Sanctuary to parts only he and the Pope know about.
Poor Lonely Twin, you're all alone in the world now and it's your entire fault. So lonely... and too proud to allow yourself to cry.Every year, Saga will return. Every year, the voice will become more soothing, less taunting and more comforting. Every year, there will be silent mourning at Cape Sunion, but not a single tear shed.
