I felt the need to write some Doctor and Rose nonsense after Journey's end, and after writing for a while, it turned a bit angsty, when it was originally supposed to be happy. Oh well.
I don't own Doctor Who
The same thoughts, the same memories, the same face. Surely he'll be just as good? Rose pondered as she stared at the second Doctor, who was explaining how they could be together forever. This is what I've always wanted. The first Doctor turned on his heel and retreated back to the TARDIS, a look of sadness in his eyes. Rose span around and chased after him. It isn't right. She thought in agony, stopping in her tracks.
"But it's still not right." She shouted, distraught. The original Doctor twisted around to face her. "…cuz, The Doctor's…still you."
"And I'm him." The Doctor answered, nodding towards the second one.
Rose stared at him, pain written into her features as she realised she couldn't convince him. He'll never take me. She watched him, and knew it was then or never. I have to find out. If not now, I'll never know.
"Alright then. Both of you, answer me this." The two Doctors approached Rose and stood either side of her. She kept her eyes firmly on the Doctor she knew, as she asked the question she had so badly wanted the answer to since their last meeting. "When I last stood on this beach, on the worst day of my life, what was the last thing you said to me?" She paused and stared up into his face, pleading with her eyes. He's quiet. She thought moodily. He's going to try and get around this. But he isn't leaving me hanging again. "Go on, say it." She told him, this time with more force. If he doesn't answer me I'll die. I've waited so long for these words.
"I said Rose Tyler." He answered, pain written into his features. Yes I know you said Rose Tyler. She thought, slightly irritable.
"Yeah and, how was that sentence gonna end?" There was a pause, and Rose knew he wouldn't tell her.
"Does it need saying?" Rose watched him, trying to hide her disappointment at his words. Yes of course it needs saying. She thought helplessly. I'll try my luck with the double. Maybe because he's part human and he can live a life, his stubbornness won't stand in the way.
"And you Doctor? What was that last sentence?" As she spoke the second Doctor placed a hand on her arm, leaning in. What is he doing? Rose thought, feeling her stomach twist. He moved his lips to her ear, and whispered three words.
"I love you." What did he just say? The words were so silent she only just heard them. He said it. Same thoughts, same mind, same memories. He may not be the original, but oh god I love him too.
Rose took the Doctor's lapels with force and crashed her lips to his, flinging herself into a frenzy of mixed emotion. Why am I kissing him? She pondered as she closed her eyes, and as she did so, she imagined that he was the real Doctor. It's not the same. It'll never be the same. But I can't be alone any longer. My Doctor won't stay with me, he can't. He'll forever be the lonely angel, I so desperately want him to have someone. Anyone. I know it can't be me. If he wants me to stay here, with this lesser version of himself, if that makes him happy then…
Her thoughts were cut off as the roar of the TARDIS sounded in the background. She wrenched herself away from her human Doctor and watched it dematerialise, suddenly dashing to where it was slowly vanishing. But he can't! Not without saying goodbye! He had done it again, left her at Bad Wolf Bay without a goodbye. Wh?
The new Doctor appeared at her side, lacing his fingers with hers. She glanced at him, saddened. Those aren't his eyes. She said in her mind, feeling cheated and slightly angry. This isn't him. It will never be him. Ever.
