It had been a normal day for the Sanzo party. A few demon attacks here and there, but no major incidents. At the moment they were driving down a small road heading for a town that was just ahead.

Sanzo was sitting in the front staring off into space nursing a cigarette and Gojyo was leafing through a magazine he'd bought in the last town. In other words, the group was in a lull. Hakkai didn't have anything in particular to say so he just focused on driving.

Goku had been silent as well staring at the changing sky. The sun was setting and the sky had turned into a shocking mixture of blue, peach, orange, and red. He was suddenly reminded of the time when he had been in that prison. The cave didn't face the sun but he remembered that on some days he could see an array of colors spill across the sky.

It was amazing how long it seemed sense he had been set free from that place. In reality he knew it had only been a mere fraction competed to the time.

Time...

...

"Holy crap, I just realized somethin'."

Nobody said anything in response to Goku's sudden comment but he knew they were listening. The way Sanzo's head leaned in his direction and how Gojyo's fingers twitched were enough of an indication. And Hakkai would just listen no matter who was talking.

"I'm older than all o' ya!"

...

Nobody said anything, even jeep's engine noise seemed to quiet in the awe of that epiphany.

"That's right Monkey, yer ancient! But you're still a kid!" Gojyo said as he reached a hand over and ground the shorter ones head. "And by the looks of it, you'll always be one!"

"No way! You take that back!"

The noise resumed, the backseat got louder, Sanzo joined in by stating that if they didn't settle down he'd shoot them, Hakkai laughed.

The shock each of the 'older' passengers had was successfully disguised.
