Stain
Oreki Houtarou knew he was gray. He had always been gray, and would probably always be. Ordinary, with no specific talents, not special in any way. He was an average student, with average grades, not drawing attention by doing especially bad or well in school. Everything with him was average.
At least that was what he had always thought, but recently things had begun to change. Not really daring to admit it, he was starting to see the grayness disappear. Or at least, he was starting to see the possibility of getting some color into his life.
All thanks to The Classics Club, and a certain neon-colored girl named Chitanda Eru.
Chitanda Eru was in another world. A world filled with colors and energy wasting. She was in the world most people lived in, except for people like Houtarou.
Chitanda's very presence sent ripples of colors into Houtarou's gray world. The ripples were indeed small, but they were there, and Houtarou could both see them and feel them.
At first, these colorful ripples made him feel uneasy. The ripples were especially strong when Chitanda glared into his eyes with that curious stare of hers.
"I can't get it out of my mind!" was what she used to say, and it eventually led Houtarou into the world of colors.
It was odd for him at first. For the first time in his life, he was living in the world of the colorful people. Yet, he was still gray, and he still did not feel like he was part of the world he now lived in.
He would probably stay gray forever. He would continue to reserve his energy, not wasting anything. He would eventually sink back into his gray world.
Right?
Although, as he walked there among his neon colored friends, having a pair of sparkling, purple eyes fixed at him, he felt himself being stained with color.
A stain slowly growing stronger and bigger, leaving a warm tickle in his chest.
Houtarou smiled.
Ok, so this was my very first fanfic. I'm sorry if there are spelling mistakes or weird sentences; English is not my first language.
This story was kind of an experiment. I'm not good at keeping things short, and I wanted this to be. I also experimented with other things, but I'm not getting into that. Hope you liked it, and please review!
