The sun is setting in a marmalade sky when Edgar futilely stares at Johnny's remote control. In the background-white-noise, mindless television babbles on and pretends to be important news.
"--in the accident; no one was saved. On Tuesday--"
Edgar watches Nny watching the screen, its brightly flashing images reflecting in their now kaleidoscopic eyes, and wonders why this happened.

Happy ever after in the marketplace; Nny is storming on ahead, glowering with proverbial daggers at passing shoppers and screeching at the ice cream salesmen when they don't have an obscure flavour. Mentally wincing, Edgar nervously follows him.
Nny's tirade shows no signs of stopping, and he's brandishing knives and standing on the table of a coffeeshop and asking Edgar do you see? do you see how they run like the PIGS THAT THEY ARE! and he nods, nods the affirmative and oh god please don't let us get arrested--
Edgar stands amidst destruction and chaos, blinking blearily, and -- smiling sadly -- whispers words of wisdom to himself.
"The world was waiting just for you..."

There's a shadow hanging over him as he walks nameless nothingstreets on his way home. Nny's an impossibility in his very existence -- how can Edgar even try? He could never win.
