Hello, readers. Thank you for taking your time to read this Zelda fanfiction. Before you read the actual story, I need to explain some things about the story. This story will take place following the Zelda timeline as I think it is. Almost every event that takes place in the story, will be have taken place in a game. With that said, let us continue with the fanfiction.

Disclaimer: I do not own "The Legend of Zelda" games or characters. Nintendo owns all Zelda games and characters.

Chapter 1

In the Lost Woods of Hyrule, there is a small village hidden from the outsiders. The inhabitants of this village know nothing of the world beyond. They know nothing about the other races. They know nothing of castles, or mountains, or rivers. They only know of things one would find in the forest. This is only one thing that makes the inhabitants of the village so strange and mysterious. A stranger thing about the inhabitants is that they are all children. Know adults, no babies, no adolescents. Only children live in the village.

The children are named, The Kokiri. The village is named, Kokiri Village, respectively. The Kokiri have a guardian. This guardian is not a person. He is a tree. A tree as large as the village itself. The tree is named, The Deku Tree. The children consider this tree as a deity. The Deku Tree gave life to all of the Kokiri and gave them a magical guard. These guards were faries. Almost all Kokiri children have a fairy. But there is one boy who does not have a fairy.

This boy is by far, the strangest inhabitant of Kokiri Village. Not only, does he not have a fairy, but he also does not think the way the other Kokiri do. He is very quiet compared to the other Kokiri. He keeps to himself much more than the other Kokiri. He also seems to have more courage. He would not be the one who backs out of a fight.

This boy's name… is Link. Link, right now, is fast asleep in his bed. Link was tossing and turning in his bed. The reason for this is Link was having a realistic nightmare.

Thunder was clapping overhead in Hyrule Field. The rain was coming down very hard and quickly. Link was lying on the ground, not knowing where he was, or how he got where he was. He was in front of a building, larger than any other building he had seen. Link started to get up slowly. He took in his surroundings. He was in a very large, open field. Link could not see much more, because of the heavy mist and the darkness.

There was a sound Link had never heard before. Link turned towards the large building to see a large wooden bridge drop down over a flowing stream. After the bridge dropped down completely, a white beast with two people on it, run out of the building. Link saw the front most rider staring right at him. Link watched the beast run out of sight.

There was something familiar about those two, Link thought. His thoughts were interrupted by a cruel, evil laugh. Link quickly turned back to see a beast similar to the one he just saw pass. This beast, however, was black, and much larger. There was a man clad in armor, riding atop of the large beast. His evil eyes were looking in Link's. The man pointed a hand directly at Link. This simple action struck much fear in him. The man laughed his cruel laugh again. Link was paralyzed with fear.
