There was no drama involved. No fight, no tears, neither heartbreak. It just happened.

I broke up with Mike Newton.

I didn't expect this to happen, at all. I've never planned it would happen in these times. On holidays.

Yes, we didn't go out for date like for two weeks. Yes, there was nothing extraordinary happened between us. But no, they were not excuses for breaking up. Well, it wasn't him who ended the relationship anyway, but still...

It was a bright evening in the basketball court near his house. I came there with some of my girl friends whose boyfriends played basketball with Mike, too. Plus Bella Swan. Edward Cullen doesn't play basketball or any other sports, but I guess she joined us in order to feel like a normal teenager who doesn't get lost from social life after breaking up with her perfect Edward Cullen.

Guess what, Mike was even more interested to see Bella's attendance than mine. Fortunately, Bella had pulled herself away since The Cullens moved out of town so Mike didn't make any attempt to talk to her.

Then they finished playing. He got me in the corner of the basketball court with Angela—and she smiled then got away—and sit beside me. He drank from his water bottle and didn't attempt to start any conversation until I talked.

"Seems like you're bored of me, aren't you?"

Mike stared at me. What? It was true. We didn't go dating for a quite long time and his texts didn't show that he was still in love with me. It was like he was forced to be dating me.

"No, I'm clearly not," he answered. By then, the confession came out. "But I just feel like... you know, I love you. I really do. But these days I don't feel like dating with anyone... I'm so sorry. But senior days are coming after the holiday and I feel like preparing myself for the final exam."

I was a bit shocked. Mike Newton didn't care about scores and exams. But this was it. So I decided to do it.

"So it's better for us to be just friends, isn't it?"

I saw him nodding. Luckily I didn't feel anything sad nor heartbroken.

Then he looked up at me. "But just to be remembered, I still love you. I do. You trust me, don't you?"

There was so much I wanted to say until no words came out from my mouth. I just nodded like a weirdo.

We sat in silence for seconds when finally I decided it was time to go.

"Mike—" I started in the same time he said my name. I showed a little smile, letting him to talk first.

He took a deep breath. "Jess. If it's not too much to asked, can I ask for one thing?"

I bit my lip and nodded.

"Whenever or wherever we meet later, in class, in the canteen... Can we still be friends and not feeling awkward in interacting with each other?"

Honestly, I didn't think he would say that. But he did. So I agreed.

I went away by then, leaving the basketball court with the boy that had ever been in my heart, and the sunset who witnessed the end of this love chapter.

A/N: I hope that is not so bad until nobody reviews this. Sorry for any grammatical error if you find some. :/

I'm still that little santa.
