Zuko walked down one of the many hallways in the palace. He turned down another hallway and walked down it in till he came to door. He opened softly, looking in as he leaned on the door. His love, his wife for almost a year now stood in front of the mirror. Her stomach was softly rounding out with child. With his child, he thought happily.

He thoughts wandered back to right after the Avatar defeated his father, a little more than a year ago. After everything settled it was to be decided that Zuko was to be the next fire lord and change the fire nation, to help keep peace with all four nations. He knew before he did anything, he had to tell her. He did, too. He went to Katara, and told her how he loved her. He wanted to be with her, he wanted her to be the fire lady and be his. While he told her, Katara stood there, saying nothing. She looked him in the eye. "Zuko..." she whispered, he remembered her voice barley carried. "Are you asking me to marry you?" she asked, quietly but blunt in her way. He remembering nodding, feeling like his heart would be crush at any moment. The next, her arms were around him and her lips on his. He knew she would be his, he loved her.

Zuko came back to the present, still watching Katara, her hand lying lightly on her stomach. Her beautiful lips curled up in a small smiled as she looked at her stomach in the mirror. She still hadn't noticed him in the room, as he watched her lovingly. "Beautiful." he whispered, making her turn around and blush. "Zuko." she said, shaking her head. "Must you stand there and watch me?" she asked, trying to sound disapproving to no avail. Zuko chuckled and walked over to her. "I can't help it, my love. You looked deep in your thoughts." he said, wrapping his arms around her lightly. Katara blushed a little again. "I was just thinking about when he or she comes. I hope to be a good mother. I know I'm short tempered a lot of the time." she said, smiling knowingly. Zuko chuckled and nodded. "True, but your very motherly too. I have no doubt that you will be a wonderful mother." he said, sliding down to his knees.

He laid a gentle hand on her stomach, kissing it softly. "This is the beginning of a beautiful family." he he whispered. Katara smiled down at him, agreeing silently.
